I'm interested in creating an Adepta Sororitas character for an rp i'm going to do. I'd like a bit of help wit the sheet. As in weapons and such, what would be appropriate for her to have, progression in the hierarchy and such. if anyone is willing to help, i would be thankful for it.

Bolter, flamer and melta weapons are almost a sacred trinity for them.

CC weapons tend towards the direct and brutal, power axes and maces, chainswords and so on.

Needlers and so on don't really fit at all, though some unusual people might have them, I guess.

Thank you for the help. I'm just beginning to dig myself into the universe and lore. So anything would be nice.
Is there any sort of limit placed on them with weapons so to speak? Sort of requirements then until they're properly decorated with honors and such?

I apologize my unfamiliarity with the lore. As i said before, i'm just begging explore the universe.

Bolter weapons, bolt pistols and boltguns are standard, everyone stats with them, some people remain with them no matter what.

Storm bolters, flamer and melta weapons are more specialised, requiring specialist training. Sisters that use them are called "Dominions", though Dominion squads contain sisters only trained for normal bolters.

Heavy weapons, like heavy flamers, heavy bolters and multimeltas are likewise used by specialists. Heavy weapon squads are called Retributors, I don't know if that name is used of the heavy weapon specialists.

Melta pistols (infernus pistols) are extremely rare and valuable, generally only used by the most high ranking and important people. Plasma pistols likewise, but I think they are less rare.

Flamer pistols (hand flamers) seem to be only used by members of Seraphim squads.

Seraphim squads are elite, jump-pack equipped Sisters that are trained to fight with a pistol in each hand (not as stupid as it might seem, using a jump-pack might stop you from using a long arm). They use bolt pistols as standard, some use a pair of hand flamers or infernus pistols.

...

Power weapons are used only by higher ranking sisters. You also get the odd fancy blessed weapon, but they are very rare, and each of them should be a unique, one off thing probably, with it's own history, not like a power sword which can almost be mass produced.

Depends really...

Like the others have mentioned, bolters, meltas & flamers are your character's best friends, but there are a few things to consider. Mainly, what kind of RP it is... (i.e. scale of action).

For a (IMO) 'good' character (as in well developed character), there are two options:

1) Sister Superior of the Seraphim - she has enough experience to have the skill to use any of the weapons that the others (Dominion/Retributors/Battle Sisters/Celestians) do with the added kicker of being well-versed with jump-pack assault combat and using CC weapons at the same time. Also, her rank is junior enough that you can run through, take and give hits and it not be that big of a deal. Her personality is usually quite zealous, but not as impetuous as those under her command or the regular Battle Sisters.

or

2) Canoness/Palatine - the IC of the Adeptas Sororitas (they re-did the codex into this ten-page affair which IMO sucks major-league balls). Unfortunately, done wrong, she's just a stupid Mary-Sue with scars on her face, but it's probably the easiest. I'm not sure what you want from the character, but granted this is WH40K we're talking about so it's just a case of don't go too nuts. Equipment wise: Rosarius; power weapon; and the best ranged weapon would be a combi-weapon. Flamer if she's psycho, melta if she's cold, efficient and brutal. As for her personality, well, that's up to you, but keep in mind she's supposed to be about a hundred years old with several campaigns behind her so 'level-headed' springs to mind as a core.

Oh, and purity seals... shit loads of purity seals. You can have her spew Imperial scripture every other line...

Thanks for all the help guys. And one last thing: anywhere you'd send me to become more familiar with the lore?

Buy a codex? However, I can predict that once you find out about seraphim squads, you won't want to RP as anything else.

The Inquisitors handbook for the Dark Heresy Rp Game also contains alot of information about Sororitas, as they where introduced as a playable class there. Dont know if its the game you are playing, but even if its not it might give you some tips.

Check out wh40k.lexicanum.com
It has a lot of information, a little less than the warhammer40k wikia, but it's good stuff, read both and you'll get a lot more information than you would if you'd just read one.

You might also want to read Daemonifuge, Faith & Fire and Hammer & Anvil.

For a bit of backstory: Sisters of Battle are generally recruited from Orphans in Scholas throughout the Imperium, they begin as Noviates there and are trained before being sent to a convent, many of the Imperiums elite (non genetically modified) forces start in Scholas, such as the Imperial Guard and Inquisitorial Stormtroopers, Navy Pilots and Commissars.

The easiest way to think about a sisters character is to imagine a female space marine, wich is

IMHO, Faith and Fire wasn't a very good book. Same boring space marine story with all teh usual cliches, except with Sisters instead of Brothers.

Oh, and the codex isn't being sold anymore. The SoB are one of the armies with little itnerest that GW rarely gets round to doing anything with, the Witch Hunters codex got made out of date without being replace, though Ordo Hereticus Inquisitors can be used in Grey Knights armies.

Daemonifuge is was good, but IIRC, WHM got cancelled before the series reached its end.

This is true, most of the models are out of date and even their basic infantry are still made of metal, which is an absolute pain compared to plastic models, in my opinion.

Oh, and Protip: AVOID ANYTHING WRITTEN BY MAT WARD, HE IS SATAN.
Especially when it comes to Sisters.

Even thinking about the shit he writes makes me violently angry.

In defense of Matthew Ward, some of his necron stuff wouldn't have been as bad as the last codex's stuff, if it had come first. But as a drastic ret-con, no.

Other stuff is pure garbage, yeah, but he hasn't got the monopoly on that at GW.
