Not that many. If I'm not forgetting anything they were: Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, Metroid Zero Mission and Knights of the Old Republic.

KOTOR, Deus Ex, the first two Monkey Islands, Neverwinter Nights 2, and Dungeons and Dragons. As in, the tabletop version. It was 2E.

Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Kingdom Hearts II, Silent Hill 2, Oblivion (just hits the mark).
They were all pretty amazing, especially those first two. I fell in love, and it was all the more amazing because I played them on the original PS2 <3

Well damn. If you've had asked me a year earlier I would have said Final Fantasy VII and 9. The latter of which is now one of my most favorite games of all time.

As for this year, I've played through Pokemon Silver on a Gameboy emulator. I was able to get through the Johto league, but not long after that I got burnt out on the game and stopped playing it. I've played through Red before playing Silver so I got a bit tired of Pokemon.

EDIT: Oh shit I forgot to add Ico. I've played that game for the first time on the Ico/Shadow of the Colossus collection. Fantastic game.

the main games 5yo+ that i hadn't played before were
TES oblivion i picked that up on a steam sale earlier in the year. never played any of the series before Oblivion and once played bought Skryim on preorder.
Psychonauts gerat game.
If i can count a game i tried to play and just couldn't get to run I will say Riven the sequal to Myst. I have played and fiished all the others in the series but everytime i tried to play Riven it would crash 5 min in or less so I don't count that as played.
The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time, Since i never owned a N64 i picked it up on the 3DS (yes i know its a remake but since the original came out ages agoit still counts)
Oddworld Abe's Oddysee - was feeling random on a weekend abnd bought it on a steam sale.

Other games mentioned above (Kotor 1&2, Deus Ex 1&2, Vampire the Masquerade bloodlines, Half Life/opposing force/blue shift, Hlaflife 2 & Ep 1) i have also played this year but have played previously although none of them had i played at time of release always a year or 2 or more after release date.

Quite a few, actually...all of the Half-Life games, Ico, and Shadow of the Colossus (well, haven't ACTUALLY started that last one yet, but I plan to before New Years hits)/

Well I got a PS2 this year, so I've been able to play a lot of games that I haven't had the chance to play before.

The Jak and Daxter trilogy which is brilliant.
Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 which are pretty good.
I've also started playing Dark Cloud and Final Fantasy VII which are really good so far.

I too played Fallout for the first time this year, never really got round to fully playing it though, which I should really do when I have the chance.

Ocarina of Time (Although it is the remake, so technically it's not 5 years old, but I guess it still counts!) - Loving this game! So simple yet fun!

I also have been playing KOTOR2, which is epic! Although It does just go with my 'if it has lightsabers it is awesome' rule...!

Deus Ex. I'd have played Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory but it's annoying how there isn't a proper tutorial.

Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Shadow of the Colossus, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night...

Yeah, it's been a real backlog year for me.

EDIT: Also, Mega Man 2.

Myst is from 1993, man...

OT: DEFCON. Sheesh, Introversion, just go and wreck all my sleep forever, why don't you? It's great, but truly nightmarish in the most non-horror way possible.

Half life(didn't like it... gave it just over 2 hours and decided it wasn't for me)
Half life 2(like it but on hold for now)
Shadow of the colossus(got tedious after the fish-snake boss thing)
Baldur's Gate 2(like it but on hold for now)
KotOR(just bought it on steam, I'll play it tomorrow)
GrimGrimoire(4 years old... close enough. Great game, I enjoyed it but it probably doesn't appeal to most people)

How old is Pokemon Fire Red? It was on Gameboy Advance, so I figure it must be old enough. I only picked it up because I discovered the romhack Moemon, which replaces the mons with cute girls.
....... what?

Half Life (awesome)
Deus Ex (kickass)
Thief: Deadly Shadows (superb)
Knights of the Old Republic (can't stop playing)
Psychonauts (excellent)
Oblivion (hated it)

In short: Steam is the source for all my favorite classic gaming experiences of the year.
