What is your farvorite plot twist in a game, and/or movie, and/or book, and/or whatever

I have many, but my most recent is the 3rd game in the Colour My series, Color My Dreams. It takes such a dark tone. Full of monsters and freaky stuff.

Granted, I guess this isan't a plot twist, but I did not want to say somthing everyone would say.

The narrator's identity in [i/]The Somnambulist[/i]. I remember throwing the book against the wall in pure annoyance that I didn't see it coming.

Excellent book by the way, I wrote a review about it for this site but alas, it died very quickly.

i had a similar experience while playing Assassin's Creed. They pulled the oldest twist in the book!

Snape kills Du--

Just kidding. =3

Alright, for real, though? I don't know. Probably the end of Dexter season 2, when
Lila kills Doakes and Dexter kills Lila.
Even though I figured it was going to happen, it was still just superbly executed.

Other than that, possibly The Wire season 4.
When Bodie dies. I didn't see it coming until that episode. Ever since the "unless they're some smart ass pawns" scene in season one, I thought he was going to make it to the top of the gang. I really liked him. =( But I guess that's just how life goes on the street; you don't live. You never make it to the end of the chessboard.

i fucking love EisenHorn and Dan Abbnett He is a brilliant fucking writer, but i think the best twist is when Ravenor comes back, Or what happens to Carl Thonius in the Ravenor Trilogy

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Duh.

The Sixth Sense is in a close second.

Also, Bioshock. Amazing twist, executed better than any I've ever seen.

Rankin, the Jury. I won't spoil it, but the identity of the killer came completely from the left field, but when I looked at it I realised it made perfect sense.

I can also remember in an early episode of spooks, 2 characters (man and woman) were being held hostage, and every indication is that they are both going to survive, because that's what happens on shows like this. Instead one of them gets capped in the head and it is heavily implied that the woman is raped a lot. It doesn't sound like a twist, but given the genre and episode it really is.

Well, I'd have to say the ending for the manga Magic Knight Rayearth.
The twist is HUGE. And I mean "turns everything upside down" huge, but it all still fits and makes sense and leads to one of the best endings I've ever read in a story.

I'm tempted to post an explanation in spoiler text, but it's a twist that makes it impossible to enjoy the story if you know it before reading it, so I won't.

The last act of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door caught me by surprise. The game revolves around collecting the seven Crystal Stars, which when gathered, will open up the Thousand Year Door beneath Rogueport. The general belief is that treasures beyond your wildest dreams wait behind that door. So you sink hours into the game, getting one star after the next, and then...

Surprise! It's a centuries-old demon called The Shadow Queen intent on spreading darkness and pain all over the world, and you're the only person that's standing in her way!

Didn't see that one coming.

CoD4 when
everybody ends up dead (except you).

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune when
the zombies come and change the playing style.

Bioshock when
Atlas (Frank Fontaine) turns out to be even worse than Andrew Ryan, and you find out about the whole "Would You Kindly" thing.
