I've been watching Rome a lot lately, and I keep thinking, damn, Kevin McKidd would make a really good Green Arrow.

So my question to you all is, what actor would you like to see play a comic book character or superhero?

Alright but listen up cause I'm only going to do this once

Had a live action Dark Knight Returns had been made, then they could've only gotten one man for the job

Clint Eastwood

...and while were on what might've been, does anyone else think that Robin Williams would've made a perfect Rorscach?

I always wanted to see Rick Moranis play Arthur from The Tick. He would've been perfect for it role.

Though he's probably a bit too old and he doesn't seem to be acting anymore these days.

I'm going to say no one other than you thinks that. He can do crazy well but... I dunno, it's not fitting together in my head.

Nathan Fillion as everyone! Now that I've said it no one needs to start wanking on about him and Firefly.

Seriously OT: I honestly can't think of any actors who could do the characters that have bee cast better. I'm not saying they are all awesome, just that... I can't think of anyone better right now.

Ron Perlman as Deathstroke.

Fuck he already voiced an alternate version of him, and the voice is just perfect! Plus he easily has the bulk to be massively intimidating in that badass suit. Plus..the voice! If anyone's seen the cartoon of "Teen Titans", they can contest that Ron Perlman's voice in that role is an ear-based orgasm.

now for one that'll piss off some hardcore Marvel fanboys:
Thomas Sangster as The Flash.

Now let me explain that one! Call me nuts, but I always imagine Flash being better if he's a smaller guy. A brick shithouse type just doesn't seem realistic in a guy that can run at the speed of sound (i know superheroes aren't meant to be really realistic, but come on!). Small and agile would fit better. Plus Thomas Sangster is both my favourite young-ish actor, and a damn fucking good one at that!

Add to that the fact that British people always seem cool, and whenever I think of the Flash I imagine him being a petulant, somewhat hyperactive young guy, and it all fits together.

I'm actually working on a theory of how a comic book movie becomes successful for my website with some members of my robotics team. One of the ideas we are playing with involves few well-known actors in starring roles. That said, I believe that Burn Gorman from the BBC show "Torchwood" might make a decent Knight in a Knight and Squire movie (though, they'll never make one).

Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. I mean a Deadpool who's just like the comics guy.
To my knowledge that's actually being made; they just didn't start sooner because Reynolds was tied up in Green Lantern.

Seconded. Slade is one of the greatest cartoon villains in the history of anything, and he couldn't have pulled that off without Ron Perlman's voice.

OT: I hate to be using the same actor again, but Ryan Reynolds would make the perfect Flash in my humble opinion.

I think Slade was the ONLY reason I kept coming back to that show. Despite being stuck with a bunch of irritating kids as enemies, he still pulls off one of the slickest, most menacing villain performances I've ever seen in...anything, yeah. Seriously, everything else in that show either annoyed or bored me, but when Slade was talking, it's quality immediately jumped up.

And about Reynolds...I'm not denying he's good, but I always find him too...generic. I dunno, there's just something about him that makes every performance I've seen him give seem very average. It's like...it's like he's playing the exact same character every time he's in any film. I know that's not really his fault exactly, but he never impressed me very much. Hopefully the Green Lantern film can pull out a surprise turn of awesomeness for him but...I remain doubtful.

So he'd be low down on my list of people I'd want for the Flash. There's many people I'd turn to first before I went to Reynolds.

[sub]Again, not saying he's bad. Don't hurt me...[/sub]

There, there. I won't hurt you. (Much.)

Truth is, yes, he's incredibly generic. But, then again, so are many comic book characters. The only reason I think Reynolds would be good as both Deadpool and Flash is that he can pull off 'crazy & wacky' well enough (Deadpool) and he's a decent wise-ass and quipster when he needs to be (Flash). Not much, I know, but be honest - do these two characters really have that much depth that needs portraying? Using an actor the calibre of Brian Blessed or Patrick Stewart for Deadpool or Flash would be kind of a waste.

I personally would pay the price of admission just to hear Brian Blessed or Patrick Stewart spout your typical comic-book wise-ass hero one-liners. That would make my life complete.

And comic book characters being generic is WHY you need actors who aren't to portray them. If the comics can't inject those fuckers with a little personality, a live action performance easily can, given the right actor. Which is why Reynolds isn't right for it. Yeah he can pull off a wise-ass snarky bastard, but it'll always be a rather BLAND wise-ass snarky bastard.

For the record, I'm in favour of him being Deadpool. That is awesome. But he just isn't right for the Flash...then again this is coming from a guy who's never read a Flash comic book in his life and who's only insight into Flash comes from occasionally catching glimpses or short scenes from various children's cartoons that feature him as a character. So I'm largely working on what I personally think Flash should be. I'm probably getting it all wrong, so who knows? Reynolds might be perfect for the part! He might get cast in a future Flash movie and be made disgustingly rich beyond his wildest dreams from it, pleasing everyone from casual movie-goers to hardcore Flash fans alike. But in my mind...he just doesn't fit the character (that is, the character I've randomly invented in my own mind for the Flash).

So what if the character is designed to look like him...

I still want to see Eddie Murphy as the Riddler...

Danny Trejo would make an amazing Lobo the Last Czarnian...
Oh good god yes!

I have a problem with getting too attached to voice actors, especially Mark Hamill (see: The Joker, Fire Lord Ozai, and half the characters on Metalocalypse), so I would love to see him as Hobgoblin in the upcoming Spider-man movie. Willem Dafoe was amazing in the role, but Mark Hamill just has the voice that I associate with that character from watching Spider-man as a kid.
