You can have one when you're probably about 16 onwards, whether it lasts is a different story. I had a deep relationship for two years but it didn't work out, doesn't mean it wasn't meaningful, it just meant we couldn't live together (and we couldn't). Before 16 I would say you'd be to emotionally and physically immature to survive the rigours of a long relationship.

Honestly, if you're getting drunk on a regular basis, you're not mature enough for a serious relationship.

I believe there is no set age that people are mature enough for a serious relationship.

Adults who have multiple divorces aren't mature enough, even though they may be in their late 40s or 50s.

However I've seen 14 year olds who were mature enough to have a genuine, serious relationship.[/quote]
