What alignment is Ozymandias?

Whenever I watch (good) movies, I like to see what the character's alignment would be. It is simply a way to distract a geeky mind. I was recently watching Watchmen and most of the characters fit into classifications rather nicely.

Rorschach-Chaotic Good
Dr. Manhattan- Neutral, until the end, where he changes to Neutral Good
Silk Specter II- Neutral Good
Comedian- Chaotic Neutral, easy
Night Owl II- Shifts around from Lawful Good to Neutral good

And then we get to Ozymandias, who gives us a royal conundrum. There has always been debate over his action being for the good of mankind, or evil due to the fact of the millions of deaths. I just wanted to throw this out to the Escapist community, and see what they could come up with.So, what do you think?

I like Ozymandias. He defies classification, and he's one of the many characters that I don't consider to be a villain despite what they've done. Like the bad guy in UP. The ends justify the means.

I would say he's Chaotic Good. In a way, he's kind of like a mirror image of Rorschach. While Rorschach's philosophy revolves around moral absolutism with no compromises whatsoever in the name of justice, Ozy's revolves around a concept of "the greater good" where compromises and sacrifices are not only acceptable, but absolutely crucial, if justice is to prevail.

He isn't evil. At least, I don't think so. He didn't kill those people because he wanted to commit murder, or create chaos. He genuinely believed that sacrificing their lives for the safety of the planet was an even trade, and depending on your point of view, he may have actually had a point.

Not seen Watchmen (shoot me if you must), but sounds like a Chaotic Good to me.

Dr. Manhattan - Lawful Neutral
Silk Spectre... She's either Neutral Good, or Lawful Evil, I can't decide

Chaotic good. Chaotic good means that you're doing whatever you think is good, and Ozymandias believes that what he's doing is the right thing, and he's prepared to make sacrifices for that. And for that moral ambiguity I love Watchmen.

I loved the book up until the Ozymandias plot reveal.

Because it was a major call back to Jesus.

Make a great sacrifice and the world will be cleansed!

They did it in a popular anime called Code Geass too. I almost barfed on myself when it happened.

I don't hate Christian mythology (albeit one of the most boring of your options) but I do think that too many authors rely too heavily on that two millenia old cliche of a great sacrifice leading to peace of some nature, be it physical or spiritual.
