By this I mean things that you do in-game which in that universe would be... odd.
For example, in Gothic 3 I always run around everywhere with an arrow ready to fire, even though I hate the running animation, but I do it because having an arrow out causes npcs to display their hp in an easily noticable bar across the top of the screen, which means I don't get taken by surprise when running through a forest.
I also jump everywhere in oblivion, as I'm sure loads of people do, and I don't think I've started a conversation with anyone where I haven't been floating in midair causing them to bend their neck 90 degrees upwards.

Do tell.

I save very often; whenever I kill something that I can loot, I loot it before it falls to the ground--if possible; and I try to do things fast instead of being careful (causing many mistakes and reloads).

Zero death runs on maximum difficulty.

My favourite is Dark Messiah of Might and Magic ... the game where, in 4 hours or so, there's about 1000 ways to instantly die from full health.
I even uploaded the build I used to do this with to youtube. A whole playthrough. Although that particular run wasn't a zero death run (had to re-record 3 stages), it was before I started succeeding at them ... but by then I already had the theory down.

I make a habit of jumping into every body of water, to see whether my character will have a fun time paddling about or die like he's made out of tissue paper and wearing lead shoes.

I like to play First person shooters in an overly flamboyant manner. Take call of duty Online for example. Instead of killing other players in a boring fashion, i try and be creative and unusual in my killing, because fuck winning or kill/death ratios. As long as i'm having fun amirite?

I've gotta agree with kman123, I'm a compulsive reloader too. Even if I've only used one or two rounds from a thirty round magazine, I'll still reload. It'd be interesting (and probably slightly embarrassing) to find out how many of my online deaths have been due to being caught out whilst reloading.

I always use the weakest/most common/starting weapons as much as possible. Usually with the intention of saving ammo for my better weapons for later, or pouring upgrades into something I will always have on me.

Often I don't shoot until I can get a headshot.

I imagine it would freak out my in-game comrades: "We're trying to move forward, sir. It's just that one of the new guys--he keeps popping out from behind cover to try and ping the enemy with an AK-47. We've been stuck in this street for the last ten minutes while he's been dealing with this sniper..."

I save alot. In two of my sandbox games I use three slots just in case one of the saves corrupts itself for one reason or another. I also save compulsively in games with a save state style system, but to be fair, what do you do if you think you're about to die and you don't wanna go through a bunch of bullshit again?

Ever since I played Halo back in 2002, I subconsciously try to crouch-jump in every FPS, regardless of whether it actually works or not.

I'm also a compulsive reloader.

Funny you should mention this. I do the same because of HL1 or Counterstrike. Hard to say which. It's 100% of the time though. I can't press space without pressing control with it.

I nod and shake my head in FPSs. Best example: Alyx: "Man of few words, aren't you?" - Me: *nods*

I jump incessantly whenever I have to wait in a small space.

I take longer deciding on my character's name than on the (moral) choices in the game. Only in fantasy, though. Any semblance of reality (even Mass Effect) and I go with Sam.

Compulsively destroying every destructible object I can find. If you give me a room full of ceramic pots or something and let me wield anything from a stick to a high powered futuristic gun, I will make absolutely sure that all pots end up in many shards on the floor.

I am a Hoarder, games like Fallout 3 and New Vegas are the worst for me. Every single weapon fully repaired on display in my home. Never ever to be used. I have a separate version of each weapon for that I will use for firing.

I even try max out the strength stat so I can carry more guns, so I can have both a flamer and a heavy incinerator just in case, even though all I ever use is a plasma rifle.

Does that mean I don't get to have as much fun going crazy with power weapons? Yes, yes it does, but I know I have them, at home, just in case.

Shooters: Reloading and crouch jumping.
RPGs: Hording dem' lootz.

Any game that is a Sandbox type of game I make it my sole purpose to find every way of entertaining myself simply by fucking around.

That swingset glitch on GTAIV made for hours of fun, and I have no idea why.

Indeed.

I save about every 5 minutes, more often if it's quick save.

And I must reload, always.
Magazine must be full at all times.

Every time I encounter a split in a road/path/cooridor/etc. If the objective/map markers says to go right....always go left. ^_^
