Why would you be a dub fan if the voicework shit? That doesn't make any sense. Also, I like the original Japanese intros. the music 9/10 times sounds better.Onyx Oblivion said:I suppose it's this, since it's the series I'm watching now.
The one part I dislike about anime is that that even dubs nearly always use the original Japanese intro.
That's right. I'm a dub fan. Doesn't matter how shitty the dub voicework is, I will watch it in English!
I fast-forward through all non-English intros after the first time I watch it. Usually. I even put up with the One Piece dub intro. Hell...I LIKE IT.
I'm the same way about anime dubs, most male characters are androgynous enough without feminin voices. And Japanese voices don't sound emotive to me.Onyx Oblivion said:I suppose it's this, since it's the series I'm watching now.

Because it's in my fucking language, and I generally HATE the female voices in the few subs I've watched.SilverUchiha said:Why would you be a dub fan if the voicework shit?
Maybe, but I don't see why you should let a language barrier be a problem. Hell, I got Japanese music from all kinds of different bands. I have absolutely no idea what they're saying but I love the sound you get from those bands moreso than you do from the average (keyword, AVERAGE) English/American band. Much like J-Rock bands, anime voiced by Japanese voice actors seem to fit more. For example, in Soul Eater, Black Star has a deep tough voice that fits the self-proclaimed "big man, soon to be god" character. But in the American version, the studio made him sound like a prepubescent boy or a girl. How the heck does that fit the character in the slightest? I could go on, but he's actually a perfect example of what I'm talking about. The actor may do a fine job, that doesn't mean the voice fits the characters at all.Onyx Oblivion said:Because it's in my fucking language, and I generally HATE the female voices in the few subs I've watched.SilverUchiha said:Why would you be a dub fan if the voicework shit?
I watch the occasional sub, but as long as the plot isn't fucked over due to translation issues, I'll still prefer the dub. I really don't care about the "spirit" of the character too much. Black Star still comes across as arrogant, and it made the fact that he actually has skills to back it up more surprising the first time. And even some of the times that followed. That said, don't spoil anything for me. I'm only on Episode 15.SilverUchiha said:Maybe, but I don't see why you should let a language barrier be a problem. Fair enough I suppose. By the way, I don't think I spoiled anything. I can't remember an appearance in the manga or anime where Black Star didn't call himself "an awesome Herculan exemplar who will become a god". (god does that get annoying after a while).Onyx Oblivion said:snip
You didn't spoil anything. I just wanted to ensure your next post didn't feature any, is all.SilverUchiha said:Fair enough I suppose. By the way, I don't think I spoiled anything.
