The great problem with anime turned into live-action via new hollywood (think Jon Favreau and J.J. Abrams) that I see is it would require way, way too much exposition because their worlds are just into insane (it comes with that whole "made in Japan" thing as we all know) and the only way to delay and cut up exposition into relatively chewable bite-size chunks requires an intuitive world as seen by Joseph Cambell (i.e. a trio of main characters which equates to the 'chosen one' , the self-made man, and the charitable, independent noblewoman.) where you get an idea of the adventure to come vary quickly like the original Star Wars trilogy (episodes IV,V,VI). But I think with the right budget a Gundam movie could be a successful summer block-buster. But that would still be hell to fill seats in American theaters. I also think that Keanu could be decent Spike in a live-action Cowboy Bebop after seeing him non-chalantly fight with unique weapons in Constantine.
