Can't go wrong with Team Fortress 2. It's a solid FPS with enough variety and strategy involved to stay more interesting than just "shoot the other guys." Great community, too.

That's on 360, too. I was assuming he wanted PC exclusives, but maybe not. TF2 is definitely much more fun on a PC (in my opinion.)

@ OP, how powerful is your PC? Can you play Crysis with it? Neverwinter Nights 2? Or should we stick with oldies but goodies, like Baldurs Gate, Half-life, etc?

left 4 dead is also a great choice
Left 4 Dead is good, yeah, but I'm surprised the guy with CoD4 as his avatar didn't mention the game. So yes, CoD4 is a great PC game choice.

Probably the funnest RTS would be Age of Mythology

Funnest FPS = half life 2 or s.t.a.l.k.e.r shadow of chernobyl

Funnest RPG = diablo 2

funnest MMORPG = I'd say WoW but it's getting too old; warhammer
Funnest = Not a word.
But I do agree with your game choices.

FPS
STALKER, since you love you some RPGs. Unreal Tournament 2004 without a doubt is the best multiplayer FPS out there. Well, if you like them unrealistic. Half-Life 2, of course.

RPGs
Go old. Fallout 1 and 2, Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 (There's actually a mod out for 2 that reincorporates Baldur's Gate 1 so you can play BG1 with the classes, abilities, and spells from BG2. Tutu), Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines (Fair warning, you'll need fan patches. Troika wasn't very good at limiting bugs), Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2, Planescape and Icewind Dale have always been recommended though I'll admit I never played both through, and Space Rangers 2 can be considered an RPG. It has stats and equipment, just a lot of other shit thrown in as well.

As for not being into RTSes, give Starcraft, Medieval 2: Total War or Rome: Total War, and Dawn of War a try. They're some of the best RTSes out there. But if the real time aspect isn't your thing, try out Civilization 3/4 (4's more user friendly and, in my opinion, better, but a lot of people swear by 3) and Galactic Civilizations 2. Also, lots of good things heard about Masters of Orion.

Also, is your lack of desire to play horror a lack of interest in being scared or because horror games aren't all that scary to you? If it's the latter, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is a really freaking scary game and relies less on body horror and hordes and a lot more on powerlessness in a hopeless situation. And some really freaking awesome chase scenes. And insanity. Well, and there's body horror.

Also, fans of Baldur's Gate 1 and Neverwinter Nights 2 will enjoy the recently released expansion pack: Storm of Zehir. NWN2 goes Candlekeep!

I just couldn't get into that expansion. It didn't help that it ran like crap on my PC.. which can easily keep up with Crysis (on high/very high settings) and GTA IV, etc without a hiccup. It just doesn't seem very optimized. But, I also thought the voice acting was poor and the story didn't really draw me in. I'll try again sometime when I'm done with GTA and MGSIV.

For new games, mass effect will keep you busy on the pc. Its a shooter\rpg hybrid. You could also try the kotors which were ported to pc, but you may have seen them on xbox.

I agree wholeheartedly with the baldur's gate and fallout suggestions. However, baldur's gate 2 is a little... esoteric in some ways... its straight-up-dungeons-and-dragons and as a result is a little innacessable.

I'd rate it as the toughest rpg i've ever played. that said, its also the best.

Look up some lists of "the top 25" or "the top 32" pc games of all time, and see if anything appeals to you.

Ghost master. Seriously, you won't find many games that are more enjoyable than that one.

You should check out the first two Gothic games. As far as graphics go, they are of course outdated, but they are still among the best RPGs out there and should be available quite cheaply.

Counterpoint: never in my life have I ever played a game that controlled as badly as these two. I couldn't make it to the second cutscene, it was so bad. Make sure you try a demo or something first to make sure you can deal with it.
