The entirety of the romance with Tali'Zorah. The "warm feeling" radiation released killed my friends in the room.

Also there's the monument at the end of Halo 3. It gave me sadness right down to the core... Namely due to Johnson's picture being present on it. Why... WWWWWWHHHHYYYYYYYYYY?!?!?

This has been done too much. But I'll bite.

The Flanoir Doctor Scene with Sheena in Tales of Symphonia.
Oh I'm sorry I try to be original, I didn't know anyone has done this post recently. Hints the 50 some posts.
Did I say recently?

No.

I said it's been done too much.

Because it has. Don't put words in my mouth.
Not to put words in your moth again but it seems to me you are getting defensive about it. I wasn't trying to put words in your mouth I just thought you meant recently.

I'm deeply shamed to admit this...but..
The scene in Modern Warfare 2 where you crawl out of the entrenchment to see that Washington DC has become a battle ground, and the Russians seized the White House.

That touched the ridiculously patriotic American in me.

Yay indeed! Once I get a little less busy I plan on making a new, less slow avatar, but still with some nice comedic value.

Truly though, with the games I listed, they're old enough that spoilers are moderately openly allowed. After enough time, you can't expect to keep spoiler free, neh?

I don't know what it is about them, but to this day, both Kingdoms Hearts and FFX can stir emotions in me that I sometimes forget I had. Hell, the songs to all the games still make me nostalgia.

When I heard this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9nocjg2OLI] in Portal.

That's when the reality of the situation struck me; you're not a hero. You're not significant. You're not fighting to save the world. You're not trying to help others. You are just an ordinary person, trapped in a place you know little about. You're only goal is to keep moving forward, because that's the only thing you know how to do. You are utterly alone and can rely on no one but yourself.

That's not something you usually experience in a video game. You almost always have someone working with you. You usually has some big important task to accomplish. But in Portal, it's just another test (or at least that's how it starts). The only other living creature is an AI who's presence is not exactly comforting. It's kind of hard to explain why I found this moment in the game to be particularly deep. I think it's mostly because prior to Portal I hadn't really experienced anything like it in a mainstream game.

You know what this may sounds surprising but the God of War III Demo caught me...I'll have to spoiler this appropriately.

We all know that in the end of God of War II

Kratos was ascending the hills of Olympus with an army of Titans ready to smash the Gods to bits

So obviously when I saw Helios and a Titan of Fire (Name escapes me right now) battling it out as I constantly ripped cronies and minions in half I expected it. As I progressed I learned about this and that. These commands, those commands the normal demo stuff. So it came to the part where I...

Shot Helios out of the air and was lead to killing him quickly with a lovely QTE sequence I might add because I see nothing wrong with them.

...So then of course I begin to progress and I am leading up more and more and suddenly the Titan starts stomping near me. No less just clearing the way for me I'm sure. Then we bring ourselves to the part that caught me terribly...

The Titan continues to stomp around and I must use my Icarus rings to fly very expertly avoiding many pieces of debris before I emerge from the hole where his arm lands very close to me in an angry swing. I see it clear some enemies so I figure he's cutting it close. So as a joke I say out loud..."Hey, watch it I'm on your side!" Laughing I watch the cutscene continue as Kratos directs his wings towards the Titan's head and pulls back ready to carve away his face...

Wait...What?

Algalon the Observer's speech when you defeat him in Ulduar (WoW).

"I have seen worlds bathed in the Makers' flames. Their denizens fading without so much as a whimper. Entire planetary systems born and raised in the time that it takes your mortal hearts to beat once. Yet all throughout, my own heart, devoid of emotion... of empathy. I... have... felt... NOTHING! A million, million lives wasted. Had they all held within them your tenacity? Had they all loved life as you do?
Perhaps it is your imperfection that which grants you free will. That allows you to persevere against cosmically calculated odds. You prevailed where the Titans' own perfect creations have failed.
I've rearranged the reply code. Your planet will be spared. I cannot be certain of my own calculations anymore.
I lack the strength to transmit the signal. You must hurry. Find a place of power close to the skies.
Do not worry about my fate . If the signal is not transmitted in time re-origination will proceed regardless. Save. Your. World."

Three games really stick out in my mind when I think of deep game moments:

Koudelka: The ending gave you a slight sense of closing but you always felt that even though they beat this demon eventually the characters were just going to be consumed by their own inner demons, so the victory felt somewhat hollow and melancholy. I did like the game but the ending always made me feel sad for all the characters.

Galerians: Even after all the work he had to do to try to save her, he just ended up destroying her in the end. The game already set up a lot of "I feel bad for that guy" moments but some how the main character just kept getting the worst end of the stick at every turn. He certainly felt like the Peter Parker of this universe.

Tecmo's Deception: In the first game your wife comes to your aid in your newly renovated mansion of death and she is of course killed (Its the mansion of death after all), and you are given the choice to resurrect her has a zombie. I always felt bad doing this because when her brother arrived he is attacked by her and it kind of made me feel like the biggest arse in the universe for doing such.

Portal has, by far, been the game with the strongest impact on me. One, I... I just have a thing for places like the Enrichment Center. Dead, gray, with no way out other than using your head and whatever plot device (no pun intended) you have on hand.

GLaDOS' whole 'I know what happens after you die' thing was also... chilling. At first, yeah, just another threat; you ignore it and keep burning stuff. But once you think about it, and learn that
Aperture actually DOES have the technology to transfer human minds into computers
, it becomes downright terrifying to think she could have once been a normal person, who has just lost whatever mind she had. And that her mass murder of employees might not have been completely unwarranted.

And as Internet Kraken said, you are not in any way a hero(ine). You're pretty much a redshirt rat, you're only alive for results. You've got no one to help (save for the occasional Cube), everything is trying to kill you, and once you're out... where do you go from there? It probably was safer inside, god only knows what physical and mental effects would be left over. It's pretty scary to think about.

Which makes me love that game all the more, I've got an unhealthy obsession with insanity.

*Megaspoilorz, srsly don't read this unless you played Max Payne*
The part when he realizes...
*here it comes*
That he's in a video game.
Ha! Not really the deepest, but it was awesome nonetheless.
For really deep... I don't know. I guess I have a bad memory.

i never played the Chrono Trigger on the SNES, so while playing through for the first time on the DS, i was stunned at how disraught I was to have Robo jumped by the other robots. you felt completely helpless as your friend, sweet and innocent is pummeled while you can do nothing to stop it. At that point, revenge has never tasted so sweet.
