It is extremely difficult to create a top 10 VG music list, as it's doubtful you have played every game. That being said here are some of my favorites.
Myst- Myst Theme
Myst III- Main Theme
Red Alert- Hell March
Total Annihilation- Intro Theme
World of Goo- Red Carpet Extend-o-matic
Ace Combat Zero- Zero
Starcraft II- Heaven's Devils
And finally...
Shadow of the Colossus- Demise of the Ritual
Why am I the first to mention Shadow of the Colossus? For shame people!

Ah! Ninja'd! I once heard this track described as the good guy version of the Imperial March in terms of inspiring awesomeness, and I think that level of praise is totally apt.Phlakes said:

Outside of Mass Effect, about 90% of the songs that come to mind are Uematsu's contributions to the Final Fantasy series. Say what you will about those games, but nobody can argue how brilliant their soundtracks are.
Terran up the Night, and most TF2/Left 4 Dead music. Painkiller ain't bad, and does Shattering the Skies Above from GoW III count as game music?
I'll happily listen to any music by Nobuo, but I'd have to say that the soundtrack for X is my favorite (couldn't pick one song >.<). I like all the weird songs on it.
I'll add my second one once I find it, it's in The World Ends With You, give me a few minutes.

Hitman Blood Money theme (already mentioned, its bloody brilliant)

Stalker SoC theme
Also, Stalker has this weird ambient music, Call of Pripyat in particular its hard to describe, though I'm not sure how much of it really is music because theres so much stuff you can hear that is actually happening in real time throughout the game world.

Majority of Persona 4's songs are literally songs even though they are like background music. Persona 3's Burn My Dread and ~Nyx Battle~ and Persona 4's "Genesis" or "THe Almighty" Can't remember. Well, put in any 8-bit generation of music and youve got a nice mix.
Well, actually that depends on what songs and types you want. Final Fantasy, Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid, Pokemon......theres a lot of variety out there..
