Dear lord, you liked that/thought that was good? (To be fair, I own it and rewatch certain scenes purely for the theatrics...)

That's because Jeff Goldblum played James Watson, and I can't abide Jeff Goldblum. Any number of actors could have played him, and they had to choose him. (I am really sorry if other people like Jeff Goldblum, but he doesn't do anything for me).

Fair enough, I personally don't mind him, I thought he was fairly amusing in that film. *shrug* My old man loved that film almost purely for Peter Pauling = idiot (even though he wasn't, he was just an idiot compared to Linus).

I can't be arsed to list games because, quite frankly, I don't game all that much anymore.
Movies, however, are my bread and butter, the shit I live for, so I'll gladly post my top 5 of those!

1. The Good, The Bad, The Ugly [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060196/] - Sergio Leone's Dollar-trilogy is by far the best Westerns ever produced (well, let's be honest: They are some of the best movies ever produced, period), but this last one is a beast in it's own right. This movie needs to be enjoyed on a big-screen, with the volume pumped to the max.

2. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0443680/] - In my mind the most underrated movie of all time. I can't say anything else about it, besides that you must watch it.

3. Apocalypse Now (Redux, preferably) [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078788/] - Pure perfection.

4. Blade Runner [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083658/] - Shit, it's Blade Runner need I say more?

And, number 5, right out of left field: Big Trouble in Little China [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090728/] - Easily the most watched movie of this list. John Carpenter is a bloody genius, and this movie you just can't get tired of.

One of my biological inorganic chemistry professors at university attended one of Linus Pauling's lectures and said that he was obsessed with vitamin C, believing that it could prevent cancer and he found it terribly ironic that he died of prostate cancer. He said if we had the time, we should try and check out a book he wrote called How to live longer and feel better I haven't gotten round to reading it yet, but I intend to. That man was indeed a genius.

IIRC, he ate about three grams a day and lived to be the ripe old age of ninety three. Doesn't work for everyone, for all it's a water soluble vitamin, I have heard of a vitamin c overdose (just need to remember where... though I'm fairly sure there's something to do with haemochromatosis, will have to check). However, I can't remember the reason why he was blacklisted by the American govt so he couldn't come over to the UK... maybe it was Edward Teller again...(!)

Anyway... have you noticed all our conversations inevitably devolve into science-geek talk? =P

Top 5 Movies (In order from most love to fifth most loved, just like my Top 5 Bands post)

1. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World (I saw this movie 4 or 5 times while it was in theaters, and I quote it incessantly. It's the defining statement of what it's like to be coming of age in this era - it's my generation's Clerks or Animal House.)
2. Dead Alive (Peter Jackson's last - and best - splatstick film. It's deliriously gory, unbelievably funny, and shockingly well written, acted and directed - certainly the highest quality splatter flick ever made)
3. Hausu (A bugfuck crazy late '70's Japanese horror movie that only saw a North American release (both theatrically and on home video) last year. It is, perhaps, the most demented movie I've ever seen, and I've seen David Lynch's Inland Empire.)
4. The Lady From Shanghai (My favorite of Orson Welles' films. This choice should need no explanation - it's one of the best movies ever made by one of the greatest filmmakers to practice the craft.)
5. Monty Python's The Life of Brian (From start to finish, an absolutely pitch-perfect comedy. Yes, Monty Python has influenced, and is loved by, everyone and their sister, but if there ever was a group that deserves to be so beloved, it'd be Monty Python.)

Top 5 Games (in no particular order; I'm not as passionate about gaming as I am about film or music)
Rock Band
Starfox 64
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Defender
Galaga

Yeah I have noticed that as well! but it's all good, I enjoy our conversations :) I didn't know he lived until his 90's though, my lecturer was more interested that he took a lot of vitamin C and then he died of prostate cancer. Ah, Edward Teller. The first thing that springs to mind when people have mentioned him is Jahn-Teller distortion, and someone mentioning that he was one of the inspirations for Dr.Strangelove.... and Oppenheimer.
