So I'm sure many of you have some sort of allergy and if you don't then lucky you :S.

Tell all us Escapists what your allergic to and any stories you have from your allergies.
Here's mine:
The day I got my braces on (age 15) I went home like everything was normal. My teeth weren't hurting yet and so I carried on with my day. At dinner time however my teeth were hurting and I wanted to eat comfortable so I got out the bottle of Tylenol and took two. about 10 minutes later I was covered in hives and struggling to breath my mother gave me 4 antihestimenes and I was driven to the hospital :/. I'm allergic to Acetaminophen.

When I have kids and if they get braces and they complain I'll tell them this story then tell them to stop complaining 'cause I had it way worse :p.

I'm also allergic to lots of different kinds of tree pollens and grass pollens .

EDIT: I'm slightly allergic to a lot of things and I was told that if I have those things in excessive amounts I might become highly allergic to them for example if I have more peanuts I might become allergic to them but I don't like them anyway so I'm good on that front. So unless I'm forced to eat Oh Henry upon Oh Henry I'll be fine there :)

So Escapists what are you allergic to?

If I am, then I'm yet to encounter it. Although, propinquity to hipsters gives my high blood pressure, if this counts for anything.

I believe I am allergic to explosions, but I have yet to encounter something to prove this.

Other then that I have no idea.

Pollen. Hayfever sucks.

Unless I take antihistamines throughout summer and late spring I essentially try and claw my own eyes out. During the height of summer I have to take steroids as well, just to make the antihistamines work.

Metaphorically, bad typing on the internetnothing against Op or the thread, just generally speaking.
Physically I haven't had any allergic reactions as of today. Thinking about doing one of these allergy tests just because.

I am allergic to amoxicillin, erythromyacin, and penicillin. Makes fighting infections a pain in the ass.

Tell you what I'm allergic to, eh?

I think not! This is obviously a trap you've set in order to assassinate me. Well I'm afraid you'll have to get up earlier in the morning to catch me with my histamine-count down!

But seriously; Dust Mites.

If I breath in dust mite matter my lungs start to close up leading to an asthma attack in slow motion. Wouldn't be so bad if dust mites were easy to avoid. Sadly for me the little shites are everywhere. Clothes, carpets, bedsheets and best of all; pillows!

Nothing gets you up out of bed like uncontrollable coughing and minor asphyxiation! Every fucking day!

EDIT: Oh, and lovely hay-fever too!

I do not know that Easy Bake Oven shit is made up off, but it gave me big red splotches when I was a kid. Happy birthday to me.

Couple summers ago I found out I wasn't allergic to bees via being stung by one while out on my uncle's boat. Stung me right near my pinkie nail D:

Other then that, the only time I've had a sneezing fit is when I was sick and hanging around my cousin's barn. That was a fun day.

Possibly one of the strangest allergies in the world :/

I am allergic to bullshit , symptomes inclued but are not limited to : me calling you out on it and shunning you for trying to pull one on me , excessive swearing , eye rolling , sarcastic laughter , facepalming , name calling and making your life a living hell. Proceed at your own risk , may cause serious injuries and/or death .

More seriously : penecillin , drop a penecillin pill in my cofee and i will die.

Pollen, dander, latex and worst of all... MILK.
Yes, that evil white liquid is my worst enemy, and I shall make it my life's mission to see it destroyed.
So far, not very successful.

Seriously though, having a milk allergy sucks because apparently milk is in almost every goddamn thing.

I have spring and autumn allergies so, I guess tree pollen and other types of pollen. I hate those times of year for that but they're so nice in terms of temperature.

Other than that I'm allergic to berries and, certain other fruits and veggies. I know something in California Rolls aggravates my throat and tonsils in a bad sort of way.

I have a severe allergy to stupidity. Whenever I come into close contact with stupidity I develop a headache. The more intense the stupidity, the more painful the headache.

Being a shut-in and a mild asthmatic, I'm a bit sickly all across the board. So I react mildly to things like pollen and dustmites, getting things like hay-fever easily.

But the only thing I've found that I'm actively, badly allergic to is cat hair. I don't know if it's all cat hair, or just certain breeds, but when I get cat hair in my eyes, they swell up to the point I can't see and start itching like mad, while my nose runs like a river. It's awful.

most furry animals (dogs and cats instantly rape my eyes and nose to death, it gets so bad sometimes that i look like i have a black eye from how bad the eye rape gets) and basically every pollen and season change under the sun rapes my elbows and my nose.

oh also, codeine, had that shit with my antibiotics and it nearly killed me, i was throwing up everywhere and had never been so close to passing out from lack of focus., my vision basically was like trying to watch a 3D movie but without the glasses on, so shit was fuckedd up.

besides that i'm healthier than most people on average, so i guess that's a perk to those cons.

Chromium and things related to it.

Unfortunately this is an insanely widely spread chemical, wider than you realise.. it's apparently used to clean alot of ingredients which go into more common items, and in alot of cleaning agents.

To give you a rough guide to the breadth of things it can be in.. white paper.. mining waste.. car exhaust fumes.. water.... soil.... food... it's one of those "allergic to the modern world" allergies.

I have a particularly bad reaction to it, so even small amounts can make my skin start breaking out, which is what I am exposed to due to day to day modern life. I need to constantly use a steroid cream and have done for the last ten years, which of course has other unpleasant affects.

Fortunately since I moved to the other side of the world, it's less serious and I've been able to severely cut down my use and use a weaker medication.
