I have a black friend who asked me the same thing. I told him I'd only go as anything at all if he dressed up as Jules, and I'd dress up as Vincent. But he's already going as Black Jesus, so that fell through.
Black Jesus, eh?

...

I'm sorry...
No need for apologies, I'm pretty sure that was the inspiration. He of course wrote a rap, filled mostly with biblical/ sexual jokes. I helped him out a bit, but most of it was his. My favourite lines, if you're interested, are the following:

"Moses thinks he's the shit 'cuz he split the red sea,
But he ain't gettin' nailed like me in 33 AD."

"You boys make fun of the Pope, 'cuz of his hat;
Well fuck boys. No, wait, shit, I take that back!"

Zombie David Hasselhoff. The key bit is using my own blood as fake blood. Just one of the perks of Diabetes.

Well, personally I always liked the innocent spirit of it. When I'm a homeowner, I'll certainly give sweets to trick or treaters. Though I may take things too far by having one of those really realistic (and fully coloured) statues that's a bloody zombie half way through climbing from the ground, and having concealed motion activated speakers with sound effects from Left 4 Dead or Call of Duty zombies.
Well actually, that's the thing where I live, I literally see practically no-one going trick or treating anymore, I think this generation of kids are becoming increasingly indifferent to the idea, I pretty much stopped giving a shit about Halloween at about 12/13 and I think more and more youngsters are feeling the same way. To each is own though, if you like the holiday good for you, enjoy it for it's subjective worth.

I'm going to be an Aussie and not celebrate another country's holiday.
Literally all of my Australian friends celebrate halloween.

Also, it is originally not an American holiday, but the observation of it has spread from the American traditions to around the world.

OT: Fred from Scooby Doo, it is just an easy cheap costume for me.

I'm going as a Roman Senator while my friend is going as a Praetorian.
Hopefully no backstabbing occurs during the party.

Me and 8 friends are all going as TF2 Classes, since we all got hooked on it over the Summer Break. I got voted the Sniper. A lot of our costumes had to be self made, which was easy for some of us (Sniper, Scout, Engineer, and the Soldier Costumes were easy to make) Whereas others not so much.

I wanted to do something Lovecraftian, but one of his Mythos creatures would be extremely difficult. Therefore, I am going as Herbert West, syringe and all.

Most people in Australia celebrate Halloween. That doesn't make it Australian. Also I didn't say it was American. The only holidays I do celebrate are Australia Day, ANZAC Day, NYE and my birthday. Xmas and easter are celebrated under protest, and only because its a family thing.

I'm going as the weird guy in that one van. The one that doesn't say rape on the side.

You know, Murdock. From the A-Team.
