In year 9 I once used Final Fantasy 7 as a comparative text for a speech in English.

I think I got 80% or something.

World Geography, 9th grade. The assignment was to make a travel brochure for a region, and the teacher said we could use a fake one if we wanted. I picked Elwynn Forest from WoW.

I wasn't a huge fan of the Antimateriel Rifle. I used it to snipe one guy from a range that would make Boone's jaw drop. I used it mainly because I imagine the effect of someone giving a speech and suddenly having their chest cavity explode and spray their audience with viscera much more satisfying to my character (who obviously worked for the Legion and was, as such, a total asshole).

I've used games to prove a point in a paper I did on censorship, as well as psychological effects. Basically, "If person A plays game A, which is very realistic (humans killing humans) and person B plays game B which isn't very realistic (non-human killing non-human/human killing non-human) does it have an effect of the person's overall aggession level? The real pain was finding people with similar personalities to play the games the same amount of time (after tutorials and whatnot) and monitor the results (which meant hanging around them for a while/having them report signs of change) and finding people that didn't normally play the games (which was hard to find people interested in playing games that they didn't already play that type of, if any games. >.>).

I prefered using a silenced sniper rifle in NV. I one shotted pretty much everyone in the dam, including those pesky black armored rangers. My armor was gone by the time I beat it, so I was left with aviator sunglasses, a first recon beret, and my underwear, when I won. I found it more than a little chuckle worthy. XD

Last semester in College, I wrote an essay about the California Video game law and how unnecessary it was. I think I got a B for it.

Wayyyy back in the day, I used the Warcraft 3 editor to create a 15 minute movie as a school project. I had all my friends help with voice-overs, and I even threw in a rock concert at the end(although I think I was ripping off the actual game credits there). It was probably the only project I have ever really invested any time into, and definitely the only time I've ever volunteered to do a 5-man project on my own.

I was told to bring in a hobby I was passionate about, I brought in m ps2 and .hack G.U. and promptly blasted the large speaker on the large screen tv in the mdeia center the full opening followed by me going in and killing a rather large boss monster. It was the greatest school day ever.

The only time I've ever used video games to do a project was during a math project in Algebra. We needed to find the probability of a certain event happening over a set period of time. I decided to use Warcraft III as my project base. I set up a keyboard script that would restart a match with the same set up each time, 100 times. The only thing that wouldn't remain under my control was the race of the faction (i.e Goblins, Night Elves, Humans). The goal of this was to find out the ratio of CPU's facing each other, one on easy, one on insane. I don't remember what the final results were, but I think 10% of the time the easy CPU team won, but I'm not sure.

I did my exit project on video games as a learning tool, art form, sport, and entertainment medium.

Lot's of portal, bioshock, and limbo.

I didn't use this for homework, but I actually implemented aspects of Persona 3's day schedule routine to help get more organized. Yeah, I liked it that much.

I once did a short compare and contrast essay on Half Life 2 and 1984. I mostly focused on the totalitarianism rule in the settings of their universes. I explained how the government in 1984 was much more efficient in how they took over the universe, because they not only physically repressed the citizens, but emotionally repressed them, and that's why the rule in Half Life 2 failed and was defeated and why the rule in 1984 stayed relatively unharmed. Since my teacher was kind of...err...well, old, she really didn't connect with the comparison since she had never head of Half Life. But I got a really good grade on it anyway

It was kinda shit, since I had no idea how to write essays (long story), but since the teacher gave me a really high grade on it, I guess it worked out in the end

I once did a test of effect of presentation on people's perceptions. In it, I asked people if it was okay for peoples under the age of 17 to play M rated games, and then showed them either the cover art of Halo 3, or several violent screen shots of Halo 3.

It basically involved me and my friends playing a bunch of multiplayer matches and going through with theater mode to look for good shots. It was a blast!

I've used The Movies for two spanish video assignments.... both were crap, but my teacher liked them anyhow.
