I'll be trying to avoid any spoilers until I get a next gen console :)

Sleeping.

I get that The Witcher 3 is a big game release but to me it's just another open world sandbox/exploration game. Dragon Age: Inquisition proved to me that this formula has become stale to me. You might call it the new 'zombies' trend of AAA-gaming.

For what it's worth, I'd be sleeping even if it was a game I was hugely hyped for simply because I'd rather just play it in the morning with a fresh mindset rather than ruin my sleep schedule. I'm boringly practical that way. Or just boring all around :p
TW3 is a way more story driven game than it is an open world or sandbox one. Some critics are actually criticising TW3 for not living up to the hype of an open world game, but that's music to my ears personally.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is to me an example of the wrong direction to take a series, as was Dragon Age 2. If TW3 makes anywhere near the progress TW2 did from TW1 then we really are in for a treat.

And to top it all off there's this too...........

http://www.vg247.com/2015/05/18/even-the-standard-edition-of-the-witcher-3-is-a-generous-package/

.......you've just got to love these chaps & chapesses for their genuine love of gaming. I know they'll be doing it to make a profit, but you can tell there's a genuine passion for what they create there. Unlike the sad route the now lifeless Bioware have taken.

I'll hopefully be sleeping or falling asleep because I really need to fall back into normal sleeping schedule (It'll be 1 AM in my timezone)

I haven't completed the first Witcher yet (kinda stopped at playing after getting to the swamp and switched to trying to make a mod where you play as a LARP nut, but kinda got bored of that too) and I prefer to play through the whole game series after all the entries have been released, so my ticket to the excitement train is free for taking.

Hopefully, with a friends in a fireteam on our way to the Prison of Elders. Say what you want about Destiny, but I love it.

Getting ready to go to sleep for work in the morning.

Then breaking down all my garbage engrams from the Fallen Treasure chests, then gathering some friends together for a fireteam and going into the Prison of Elders.

The Witcher 3? Meh, looks pretty good, but I don't care about it right now.

[/spoiler]

I'm sure I'll get it eventually though.

Half an hour left and I am a glacial drip. Disconnecting the internet and changing the date does not fool this thing. First time digital pre-order it would seem...

I could start it after downloading the patch.

Looks beatiful, even on middle quality graphics. The lighting ... oooooooohh.

The combat system might be much better than before. Need to fight more, took my time talking and getting the first bad consequences for using the Axii Sign too much. As well as doing a quest which had ... not the best consequences, despite best intentions. Just as expected. :D

One thing I don't know yet: Apparently the choices from the other games come in later ... but I am in the first "open world" area, and it did not come up until now. Just everything Nilfgaard. And obviously no save game implementation. Let's see what happens with that.

That will be time to go to bed. Stay up much later and going to work will be difficult. Sorry, not picking up the Witcher. Have fun with it!

Five hours from now, I would be in the middle of watching Cucumber & Banana...
Five hours after that, I would still be asleep after a quick masturbation beforehand...
Five hours after that, I would be getting ready to do... something before my two hours are up...
Five hours after that, I would be walking home, dancing to music...
Five hours after that, I would be getting ready for the season finale of The Flash...
Five hours after that, I would probably be trying to masturbate before going to bed...

Oh shit... Did I miss The Witcher 3 yet? I hope not...

Probably be playing TW2, because I missed the pre-order discount window. I was about to drop the hammer on it for weeks, but then came an announcement for a season pass. Plus wanting to finish TW2 a second time before playing TW3, I'm gonna wait it out, either for a sale or complete edition.

Pre-ordered TW2 and that did not disappoint, but the backlog is getting out of hand...I actually recently got a new vid card just for this game though (GTX 970) so I should probably not wait too long!

Hopefully I'll be fast asleep 5 hours from when this is posted, and another five hours after that probably eating breakfast or something like that, five hours after that is probably around when I'm hoping to go see Mad Max, and another five later I'll probably be at work.

Now about 15 hours or so after that it's totally going to be Witcher 3 time though, just gotta be patient. But first sleep, eat, watch Mad Max, work, sleep s'more, THEN it's Witcher time!

Damn it, why did you have to remind me.

I really want to play this game but there are two things that are holding me back at the moment.

1) My PC has the minimal requirements but I'm afraid that it won't be good enough for me. I'd considered overclocking my GPU but its seems that overclocking is either not working or is not making a difference performance wise on the games I've tried it on. So while I have enough money lying around I don't wanna blow it on a product I my not be able to enjoy.

2) I haven't completed either TW1 or TW2 and I want to do so before playing TW3 in order to get the "full experience". However I just can't get through TW1 because of how bored i get. I have been playing it on and off for about 2 years and I'm still stuck on ACT 2.

So I have a question for those who have played TW1 and TW2. Is there anything significant from TW1 that carries over to TW2? Am I going to miss out on any unique dialogue or characters in TW2 if I skip the first one?

the witcher 2 has a good intro part that "catches up" on what happened in witcher 1, while it took me a while and I FINALLY enjoyed the witcher 1, I can't blame a single person who can't get into it enough to beat it, it's a chore, especially the first third of the game.

I just started playing for about 40 minutes on the witcher 3, and from what little I've played it seems VERY polished and atmospheric, so I'm just giddy with joy to play this in any free time I have.

Judging by the newest trailer that was just released which had a couple Witcher 1 and Witcher 2 characters in it, seems that the previous games story will probably play a part especially considering some of those characters in the trailer can be killed in the previous games, so Witcher 3 will likely have different outcomes based on the previous games.

With that said from everything I've read the introduction for Witcher 3 is supposed to be very newcomer friendly, and Witcher 2 stands on its own with only a few relatively minor changes based on importing a Witcher 1 save so if you wanted to read a synopsis and skip 1 no one would hold it against you. Personally I quite liked Witcher 1 but even so I have to admit 2 is just a better game all around.

I will continue to be playing The Witcher 3 in five hours. Besides digital editions GameStop was also allowed to sell it early which is how I got my Collector's Edition.

My pc parts are coming via mail. Here I am growing from (almost) exclusive console gaming larvae into a pc gaming butterfly.

I have redeemed Witcher 3 code but I have yet to play Witcher 2 (which I didn't get to play but I just felt like throwing money at GOG for being so nice).

So I'm just going to sleep. My belly is full of dinner and now I'm just stretching my legs. Sleep is imminent.

I must say, it's a pleasant change to see *some* excitement for games in this forum for once.

Now as for the question, I'll be doing THIS FUCKING ESSAY. I was planning on getting The Witcher 3 for PS4 this weekend, but my laptop catastrophically exploded two nights ago and I think I will have to put aside money for a new one, unfortunately.

>_>

So, this Thread is about Witcher 3?
Waiting for the big discount sales as always and I hope to not see a heavy spoiler while I am inactive.
Like Mass Effect 3....... But NNOOOooOOooOOoooooo, the whole internet wanted to ruin my whole expectations by spoiling the ending with any way possible! I HAVE A COPY OF MASS EFFECT 2 UNBOX BECAUSE OF THIS! WHY INTERNET? WHYYYYY!!!!??

Anyway...
Torchlight 2 is my jam now, so I will be late for the Witcher series.
But which one I shall play? The Witcher 1 or 2?

Well I was going to be going to buy The Witcher 3 (disc, console peasant, yadayada).
Then I watched some Let's Plays and the most interesting part was the card game.
Thereby I'll probably be working out or somesuch.
It's vaguely impressive that they manage to take an ARPG and turn it into a puzzle game. Then immediately and constantly tell you the puzzle's solutions beforehand. Use Igni on this monster, use Yrden on that.We color coded the monsters for which sword hurts them so you don't need to actually be awake.
And don't even get me started on the "Use Witcher Gaze and click on the glowy bit" investigation puzzles
