Just wanted to say I appreciate the recommendation of OVERWERK, I kind of stopped listening to "pure" electronic music outside of Aphex Twin and I'm digging the hell out of this.

And since a verbal equivalent to a "+1" is generally frowned upon, I wanted to share this site with everyone:

Enter an artist you know you like, and you get a nice web of artists around that artist, working outward from similar to least similar in groupings that define a particular attribute of that artist. I've found it essential in discovering new artists lately.

I've fallen back into the trap of 3 AM walks accompanied by Atmospheric Black Metal interspersed with Electro.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that, Alter of Plagues - I am the Offering + with uRAn 0 -shaman <3
shame I can't find em on youtoube currently, eh, well have fun... nothing like the serenity, only the occasional car speeding in the distance to remind you that you're not alone... those distant driving jerks...

Lately, I have been dominated by women. OK, I just re-read that last sentence. It didn't come out the way I meant it. I was trying to say that my recent albums purchases have been female artists.

I am still listening to Elle King.

Lindi Ortega is another artist who have a solid rockabilly sound.

I have been a fan of Grace Potter & The Nocturnals for a few years now. Grace Potter has just release a solo album.

I don't how some artist are 1 hit wonders and less talented artists have long successful careers. The reason I bring this up. Natalie Imbruglia has released a really good cover album couple of weeks ago. I am still listening to it consistently.

Relaxing, ambient, and rather unsettling all at once. Just a few of the feelings I get from this song.

Certainly fitting for the wee hours of the morning when you haven't slept at all, I think.

Transitioned into Killer Mike after Kendrick's shoutout in Hood Politics.

R.A.P. Music is pretty good, might be thinking of getting into Run The Jewels and RTJ2 afterwards.

Also tried dipping my toes into 2pacalypse Now. A bit skeletal and straight forward, but that figures considering Shakur went on to define modern rap.

I've mainly been listening to Vitamin String Quartet stuff lately. As such, if anyone cares for String Quartet Covers of Rock and Pop Songs, click on the Spoiler for some of my personal picks!

Fookin' do it. Killer Mike is a treasure. Not to mention El-P of course.

I prefer the the first album over the second, though. Possibly by quite a bit.

Hmm, I haven't really changed my listening habits much in August. Recently had the new Dan Andriano in the Emergency Room album arrive. I've been enjoying it more than Hurricane Seasons so that's good. It's largely background music if I think about it though.

Thanks to watching Goodbye, Farewell and Amen recently I've also been listening to Mozart's Clarinet Quartet. Enjoy it much more than I expected, probably because of the large violin presence.

Currently jamming to some siq d-beat.

And some good, ol-fashioned, crowd-pleasing grindcore.

With just a bit of the ol' power-violence to mix it up. You know, to relax.

I heard that that's the prominent opinion amongst fans. Critics seem to prefer RTJ2 just a little bit more, but sure: once I get my life in order, it'll be time for some mo' Killer Mike & El-P :D

Well, I came across a neat little song.
It was from the introduction of the latest episode (4) of "Tales from the Borderlands."

Just avoid the comment section.
Spoilers ahoy there!

Still, it is a great little song.
Especially when it went along with the visuals.

I've reverted back to songs that came out when I was in high school, and I had on heavy rotation at the time. ;)

*thumbs up* Indeed, excellent choices. I've been on an oldschool from my highschool days in the 90's as well. Lately I've been listening to some Fishbone, Faith No More, Jane's Addiction, etc.

What is the song you always go to when life throws you some curves?
I go to what I loosely call songs of defiance. It's those songs that might be talking about a negative topic, but express it in a way that implies a lot of hopeful optimism about it. Basically "this thing sucks, and I want it to go away, because I think things would be awesome then" A lot of these songs would probably qualify as "anthem" songs, songs best song by a large number of people together, feeding off each others enthusiasm.

Two of my favorite for this are:
The second song has a lot more personal meaning for me now, since I've fully embraced my atheism, even though I'm pretty sure the song itself has pretty much nothing to do with atheism at all. But the lyrics of the chorus apply pretty well to it. The first song is still my favorite for just shaking off the gloominess that might cloud my day from time to time.

Other general songs I go to for dealing with the shitiness that life sometimes has.

This one is just so good, and the album version is great too. But I love this live clip for what happens on stage, and just how awesome it is. Always makes me tear up with happy vibes. xD

This songs just got some fucking teeth to it. The mood and chorus just jazz me the fuck up.

This song just makes me want to jump. I remember spending a summer chasing these guys around the southeastern part of the US, on tour with No Doubt when they were still gaining celebrity status. The most friendly moshpit in the world, a 311 moshpit. The kind of pit where if you fall down, the pit around you stops, picks you up, dusts you off, and then sends you back in.

This one I love for the implied menace to it's song of defiance. Plus the woman singing it can fucking hit that note and hold it for nobody's business.

Can't believe I forgot this one at first. This song is just so damn fun.

Well I recently came across Andrew Jackson Jihad, a funk polk group from Phoenix.

I might make another post with a few other things I've been listening to recently too

Sweet, it's a daily requirement to see a video like that one from Pearl Jam. I have to agree with you on 311 and their concerts. The band itself is no different. And you should never forget videos like the last one. Mainly because you'll never know when you'll need them. Speaking of which ...

I just came across this thanks to the glorious Danny from Game Grumps, and while it isn't really in my regular playlists I absolutely love it to death:

I swear to God, The Moog Cookbook will stay hilarious to me until the end of days.
