Pretty simple really, I'm sat in here browsing the net and playing a bit of Bad Company 2 for old times sake, feeling a touch melancholy and blue in general. Not sure why that's just how I got up this morning.

I have a cold lager as my beverage and my ears are being treated to the entirety of Tool's Lateralus album.

So, what are you listening to Escapists?
Whats your soundtrack this evening?

Edit: Please post links to any specific songs you happen to be listening to, maybe that way we can all expand our musical horizons.

Danimal Cannon - Roots [http://danimalcannon.bandcamp.com/album/roots]

Perhaps one of the finest albums that my ears have had the pleasure of hearing.

I'm going to spoiler my link so I won't contribute to crazy lag.
And yes, this is one of few songs that I've been listening too, this one being the one I listen to the most.

I've been dusting off (The Lord Weird) Slough Feg, been a while since I indulged my ears in their amazingly original yet familiar sound.

So yeah, if you like old-school power/folk-ish/heavy metal this will be your cup of tea.
Hailing from Pennsylvania, the only North-American metal group (to date) I've grown to enjoy.

PS: The song ends abruptly because it fuses with the beginning of another called 'The Spoils'. Check it out to if you like this one.

Edit: My beverage of choice is also lager, a fine Icelandic one called Egils Gull, "Egil's gold", as in the gold belonging to Egill. A mild beer with fine and mellow taste. Alcohol percentage is 5.0.

I'm drinking some "Galahad Export", which came from a supermarket and is cheap. But it's fairly pleasant stuff, crisp and a bit of a richer taste than most lager. Being a student I can't really afford good booze.

Loving the song thus far it's pretty sweet. There are a few north american metal bands I like; Metallica, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, etc.

I'm still on Tool myself but I've moved on to the 10,000 Days album, it's fitting my mood well, very downplayed and melancholic.

My laptop's fan buzzing furiously in a vain attempt to cool down the integrated graphics ;_;

Ok, recently I've been listening to this, mainly because I could find the whole album on youtube. Also been listening to a bit of Mors Principium Est and Amon Amarth.

Obligatory hipster comment: this was a sellout album, their earlier stuff was better

Well, nothing boosts my mood like Shinedown.

I'm also enjoying some dance music by Hadouken!

I wash my hands off of Metallica, learning that their music was used to torture prisoners in Guantanamo Bay and James Heartfield (singer) said

"It's strong; it's music that's powerful. It represents something that they don't like ? maybe freedom, aggression? I don't know? freedom of speech. And then part of me is kind of bummed about it that people worry about us being attached to some political statement because of that. We've got nothing to do with this and we're trying to be as apolitical as possible, 'cause I think politics and music, at least for us, don't mix. It separates people, [and] we wanna bring people together. So, so be it. I can't say 'Stop.' I can't say 'Do it.' It is just a thing ? it's not good or bad."

and Lars Ulrich (drummer) said "it all seems so bizarre and so strange that Metallica's music, which generally sort of facilitates bringing people together, is used in these bizarre circumstances. It's certainly not something that we in any way advocate or condone."

but I hear no outrage from these rich SOBs, just "we don't agree, but please continue". I would be absolutely furious if my creations would be used in such manner.
BTW NiN were also used for this purpose, don't know their response.

Talking about politics in music, this is what I've grown attached to:

Sweet Little lies by Fleetwood Mac. I've been listening to this all night and it hasn't gotten old yet.
On a related note, how do you embed videos? Could someone please tell me?

Listening to this right now, been listening to it a lot since my sister sent it to me on msn (we swap music occasionally) and I was suddenly reminded of hearing it a lot when I was younger.

Plus it's pretty nice and mellow.
