Uh... Okay... I don't see how a thread like this one, personal or not, can lead to one showcasing their ego outside of "why does this thread exist in the first place"-type commenting, but whatever...
Really? For one There is no real reason to be passive aggressive about this. For another this entire thing is about the music YOU like, the music YOUR listening to, and displaying that socially. Displaying your "good choice in music" is all about your ego. There nothing wrong with that I'm not compiling about this thread existence. I'm merely postulating about why it dose so well despite not really being about anything substantial.
You don't have to tell me twice about your opinion about this particular kind of thread in general... The only reason why I replied to your original comment was because of the whole "nobody cares" bit since you seem to be the only one who is even saying that particular phrase right now...
The lack of any conversation is kind of my proof that nobody cares that much. Outside of this conversation what's going on? A quote or two saying "hay I like that song" or maybe a joke? That's the thing about survivorship bias if a negative result means your not going to come back with any information you're only going to find positive results. In this case you care enough to say that you care. Well ok, but most people don't care enough to say that they don't.
So... Would this thread be better, discussion-wise, if OP also asked us why we are listening to a particular song (or a set of specific songs) in the first place, which leads to various posters replying to each other with other songs that they might also want to listen to "right now" and thus turning into this pseudo-recommendation vibe? Or would it be better if it turned into a discussion-based equivalent to this one forum game where the poster had to quote someone in the thread (hopefully someone who hasn't been quoted yet), given them their opinion on the song in said quote, and end their comment with a different song they're currently listening to "right now"? Frankly, both of those sound pretty cool to be a part of in their own right, but then again that could just be the bias of me caring about what songs are under other people's spoiler tags in the first place...
But yeah, we are the only one's, quoting-wise, in some form of conversation and that's just because of you originally bringing up something and me replying to it in a quoting fashion... I can only assume the lack of quoting other people's song post (outside of the first page, for example) is due to leading to a "low content"-based comment, which could easily be avoided by still posting a song or two and then commenting on that in some way, shape, or form text-wise...
Now, as for the rest of your comment about the ego and the "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence"(?) comment, I don't really have much to say on that except, I think, that threads like these are just easier to post on when the "discussion" part of said thread boils down to "post X and you're all good" unless someone makes the first move and quotes someone else on their initial post... Plus, not everyone wants to post how they really feel about a particular thread in said thread, especially if the thread come off less harmless than [insert cynical concerning topic here], without thinking that they're going to get "flamed" for doing so... Then again, I feel like I'm slowly getting off-topic as weird as that sounds, since it has nothing to do with what this thread was trying to accomplish in the long run, so this part of the discussion could be taken to PM if we really wanted to...
Anyway, in terms of this thread topic in general, I do kinda wish that some of the songs I am currently listening to right now were available in video-based form like on YouTube, so I end up having to pick the last song I could even find a video for just to justify the "spoiler tag" portion of the post... With that said...
Every song I'm currently listening to after this particular song are
Gangnam Style-based "mashups" that, as far as I know, are only available on <link=https://triple-q.bandcamp.com/album/gangnamcore>Bandcamp... unless the video in question is under a vastly different name, I guess...
