Max, Magnus, Stirling, Lance... basically anything considered manly in America. Here in Australia we give those names to girls. I'd post the names we give to men here but they'd leap out of your screen, strangle you, sleep with your women and drink your beer.
I'll just leave this here OT: Tarquin and Olivia are probably the names you'd be beaten up for here in the UK

I knew someone in my old school called Theodore Maximilian Botsford...
Sounds like someone you would meet in 1890's England.
Wrong quote?

Anyway, 'Theodore' is quite a Greek name, while 'Maximilian' is a German one, so that name could've been for a kid born back in 1947 (unlikely, but hey), when a certain Greek Prince married a certain German Princess... (I'm courting controversy here! =P )

If you're referring to the name I mentioned earlier (Jock Stirrup), wiki him, he's a former Chief of Defence and he's ennobled as 'the Baron Stirrup'... his obituary is written every time his name is mentioned in the papers...(!)

Hmm, I knew a kid (in the UK) called Felix. His middle name was Zeus.

Though that kind of falls into the "bad-ass rare name" area of the spectrum.

I live in the part of my country where silly names are dashed about left, right and centre (Brighton, England). My Ex's name was Star and I've known many people with names like Angel, Princess, Jeronimo but wimpy names... I dunno, Jeronimo could backflip off walls.

I'm a woman. Does that mean I'm safe 'cause they'd do is sex me up and leave?

Because I wanna know...

And really? Lance is a girl's name over there? I can buy Max and Stirling but Lance?? Magnus seems just as unfitting..

OT: Um... Cornelius, I think.

In the UK, there are no real 'wimpy' names, just names that you can take the piss out of.
I beg to differ my friend.

Tarquin and Timothy are names I would consider "wimpy".
I'm fairly sure Tarquin isn't used as a forename nowadays. I've only ever seen it used as a middle name and even then only once. Also, it was a middle name that the family traditionally gave to the first born male of each generation.

Same with Coit, only ever used as a middle name as far as I've seen.

However, I don't know about other English speaking countries, but here in the UK Hillary is a guys name as well as a girls name, same with Lindsey and Frankie. I would consider those pretty wimpy XD

I was almost named Cornelius. I would be fine with it today, but things would have developed differently for me if my nickname in elementary school was "Corny".

I can't really think of any (off the top of my head anyway) here in Northern Ireland that are at all wimpy, however, names of people is usually a good indication of background ie whether you from a Catholic or Protestant family background. Usually the Irish names are Catholic, though it's silly to assume so but for the bulk of our residents, it's an excuse to deck somebody.

That being said, very little people here tend to get my name right. I know of two other "Anya"s (well, one is German and, of course, holds the German variation of the name, having a "J" instead of a "Y") living here who have all had - including myself - "Aine" ('On-yah') and I think that has an accent somewhere, "Enya" and... "Onion". So, I suppose I've had a wee bit of bother with my name though not in the wimpy sense :p Just having to endure the Northern Irish folks' silliness.

US: There is a whole slew of lame ass names I've seen. Children of the future will probably enjoy poetry and crying. Bailey is probably my favorite stupid name. I've seen dogs named that shit.

Unfortunately no, I meant if you were to call your poor little girl Olivia (further reading http://bit.ly/o0BvuM)

Although, I should have said 'bullied' rather than 'beaten up', since girls tend to slag each other off rather than physically assault when they're bullying

Really? I just find it odd because Olivia is #1 Girls name and has been in the top 10 for a while, so a lot of Girl's will be named it lol
