That doesn't mean Microsoft makes game design choices for them. They definitely said "okay" to the vehicle building but the idea and decision came from within Rare.Yoshi178 said:Rare IS owned by Microsoft you know...

Whether they're games I want to play is another matter, but it's come from the horse's mouth.
Rare is a 1st party company to Microsoft. Rare = Microsoft in the same way that Naughty Dog = Sony and Retro Studios = Nintendo.Rangaman said:That doesn't mean Microsoft makes game design choices for them. A splinter cell open world game would be interesting to say the least, I'd be happy if they just brought Ironside back.B-Cell said:splinter cell is clearly going to be announce this year E3 and most likely it will be open world game.BabyfartsMcgeezaks said:I'd also like a new Borderlands and Splinter Cell game but that's probably unlikely.
Ubisoft are having press conference. and new AC game not coming out before 2018 so most likely ubisoft will announce far cry 5 as november release date and new splinter cell game. if not than what else they will show at press conference? new ghost recon will release before E3. they are not going to announce any rainbow six. then thats all they left.
Ah yes, Borderlands, it remains a mystery why they haven't made Borderlands 3 yet.McElroy said:But not like the OLD days of OLD good days of OLD!!Hawki said:Um, guys? About Valve not making games?

OT: I've fallen off this wagon. Though maybe Borderlands 3, I dunno really.
So, not at all. Retro Studios was responsible for Metroid Prime, Naughty Dog was responsible for The Last of Us, Rare was responsible for BK: Nuts and Bolts.Yoshi178 said:Rare is a 1st party company to Microsoft. It isn't actually. There's a difference between "developer" and "publisher" (except for in-house dev teams, but that's a different kettle of fish).going further into it and saying exactly what choice is made by who in which department of each company is just getting extremely pedantic.
I'm pretty sure I just addressed this. Rare is ultimately the one who made the game. Microsoft was the publisher. There's a difference there.Sure Miyamoto doesn't make all the design decisions for all the new Mario games coming out. but since he's the Creator he's the one that gets all the credit from the public. Same thing here. going into every little detail about who made what decision for Banjo Nuts & Bolts is just getting extremely nitpicky. at the end of the day, Since Rare is a 1st Party Company to MS, Microsoft is ultimately the one who made the games.
Microsoft owns Rare.Rangaman said:[Rare is ultimately the one who made the game. Microsoft was the publisher. There's a difference there.
I think I made the point a while ago that this is an incorrect statement. Rare is owned by Microsoft, true. But they are not an in-house dev team, nor are all of the design choices made by Microsoft. Therefore Rare =/= MicrosoftYoshi178 said:Rare = Microsoft.
