I really like Crackfics, so my favorite is likely My Immortal

Oh, I'm also a fan of Busy on the Street [http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7417284/1/Busy_on_the_Street]. It's just.... so silly.

Oh, and anything by Shakespearehemmingway

There's an audience for Fanfiction?

I always assumed it was Autistic ramblings about things that should never be. Can't imagine why someone would be interested in reading that.

I do like some fanfiction, but only the overly terrible ones like Doom: Repercussions of Evil or Half Life: Full Life Consequences. Even those are probably deliberately written to be bad.

I've got two:

The first is a BLEACH fanfic: Panther King of the Shinigami. Admittedly, the writing isn't going to win any awards, but it is without a doubt THE most ambitious fanfic I've ever written. This guy took the BLEACH universe and started SPRINTING flat-out with it in his own direction. Mabye not exactly high-quality, but it CAN be a lot of fun, if you let it.

The other is Harry Potter and the Invincible Technomage, a Harry Potter and Iron Man crossover. Basically, the Dursely's die in an accident, and Harry get's adopted by Tony Stark. Badassery of EVERY CONCIEVABLE FLAVOR commences. My only real complaint is how it characterizes Dumbledore...but I'll let you see for yourself.

I might be alone in this, but I found a pretty interesting fan fiction based on Dragonball a couple months ago. It's call Dragonball Multiverse. It takes place after Dragonball Z (author refuses to acknowledge GT at all) and is pretty much a sequel series. The story is about a tournament in which multiple universes are brought together for a tournament and the winner gets a wish from one of the universe's Namekian dragonballs.

Screw the story, what this is really for is to see some interesting alternative universe set ups. The original universe (from the anime/manga) is universe 18. But there are other interesting ones, such as one where Frieza won, another where Cell killed Gohan, one where Majin Buu literally absorbed everyone of power, and one where Goku never became Goku and conquered Earth.

It's still ongoing, and is done in manga format with pages being uploaded every one or two days. The main story is periodically interrupted for a special explaining the differences in some of the universes. Currently, knee deep in a special explaining how Bardock became a Super Saiyan in universe 3. I'm actually enjoying it quite a bit. Partly because it explores ideas I had always wondered from the series.

Sure, it can be amusing to scour through fanfictions based on things you've played, or read or whatever else to see how people ruin them. On occasion you find genuinely good ones, be they parody or whatever else. Here's a few I've found over the years:

On Being A Sith Lord [http://http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5759101/1/On_Being_A_Sith_Lord] A rather amusing take on the perspective of a female Revan post revelation.

Bitter Leaves and Blossoms Bright [http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5044928/1/Bitter_Leaves_and_Blossoms_Bright] "The Hashshashin, I would learn, do not kill with blades alone." An AU for Assassin's Creed 1, where the writer has really done their research into the setting. Really anything by Callalili is good.

Oh, and there's Mock Effect [http://masseffectfanfic.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=fanfic&action=display&thread=10]. It was on fanfiction.net years ago, but it was taken down because it's in script format. If you've ever played Mass Effect, this one's a goodun.

So bad it's good: Half Life: FULL LIFE CONSEQUENCES. "And the pants were dead"

Genuinely good: Firewall. It was a Halo fanfic about the covenant invasion of Earth, starring some ODSTs-turned-proto-Spartans. (The titular Firewall unit) It was better written than a lot of professional grade work, but seems to sadly be lost to the depths of the internet. If anyone here remembers what I'm talking about and can find it, I'd be their sex slave for life. (I'm exceptionally flexible, both physically and morally!)

I have only read pony fanfics, so I'm gonna vote for Fallout: Equestria. I mean, that fanfic is low longer than the Lord of the Rings troligy. It's insane.

I'm currently reading an insanely funny FF VII parody called Frigging Fantasy VII.

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1381051/1/Frigging_Fantasy_VII

I highly recommend it. If you have any doubt, have a look at what the author, in retrospect, has to say about it:

I must say I am shocked to see recent, positive reviews of this insipid puddle of literary vomit from my past. I was recently linked to it on a forum, and some of the things I said there bear repeating here. If I could remember the email/password I'd used to originally post it, I would immediately tear it down. This drivel violates Scalzi's Law in every single chapter. It's insulting to the intelligence of the reader, and repugnant to my own dignity not only as a writer, but as a human being. A brain-damaged lemur could do better than this. Over the past 11 years, I've worked hard to become a better person than the vapid, bigoted piece of trash I was when I wrote this, and its continued existence tears away the fruits of that labour. I would expect the level of enjoyment a reader gleans from this story to fall somewhere in between cleaning up dog vomit and genital cancer.

This story was written with a specific audience in mind, and that audience is a subculture that no longer exists, and can never exist again. Should anyone be (intelligently) auditing these reviews before wasting time reading the story, take my advice as the author and find something more productive to do with your time, such as self-immolation.

-BJM

Seriously - just try one chapter. If you don't get a laugh out of it, there's probably something wrong with you!

EDIT: Hey, did anyone say we had to stick to WRITTEN fanfics? 'Cause the best fanwork I've ever seen is...

The same crew are currently working on a similar spoof of MML 2.

Not a fan-fic per se, but more like a fan-novelization.

And yes, that's Guy Cihi (James Sunderland) voice.
I need to read that, as Silent Hill 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. Or maybe I should listen to the reading of the fic by Guy Cihi. Has he done a reading of the whole thing? And how can I find it?
I think I only did that part, but he has done some other VA stuff which you can find on youtube. As for the fanfic, I think the description in the video gives you a link to the site with the whole thing.

Okay yes three are pony related so Imma just gonna throw those out now

Fallout: Equestria
Past Sins
Silent Ponyville

2 is may favorite with the SP series (big surprise) I like Fallout: Equestria and it's spinoff Project Horizons, past sins was just fun.

For non-pony I'd have to say Apostates of Ameranthine. I don't know if I spelled the right and it's a pain in the ass so I don't care. It's a DA:O fanfic between a Female Mage warden and pre-DA2 Anders, so much snarkiness is involved.

Familial Moments, a post-games slice-of-life fic in the FFVII universe. Lots of D'awww moments as well as some humorous narrative.

One of my favourite would be a Mass Effect 2 fan-fic called Interstitium. It's basically a novelization of ME2 but it's incredibly well written, I'd even say it's better written than the actual game. Bit long though, just a warning.
