I got Portal when it was free on Steam last year and Beyond Good and Evil HD when somebody lost a 1000 MS point card outside my house.

Free my Arse, you'd have to grind 10x as long for points, then it would take to earn the cash to buy quests, mounts, traits, boons, skirmishes, and even at that extent, the best part of the game still isn't free nor purchasable with points, The Monster Play.

I guess it depends what you enjoy because I personally hate monster play. It's true that the turbine points cost required to unlock higher level content is quite hefty, but it is possible to unlock everything in the game (except monster play perhaps) without paying anything at all. Sounds pretty free to me.
