Every console owner likes to invite friends over to play games because he/she always ends up winning (unless you're a total noob). My reign personally ended when I gave up console gaming after the PS2 but here are mine.

Worms Armageddon - My favorite of all of them, this game's concept and simplicity was great. With just a little practice and the right wind your could shoot your bazooka in every hole. Too bad, they ruined the series (imo) when they started making those crappy 3D games.

Soul Calibur - Voldo rolling on the floor in front of his enemy was priceless. One of those game in which you could beat any button masher with a little bit of skill.

ATV Offroad Fury - There was that game called TAG in which you had to ram the other ATV's (Just like in real life, duh) to get the beach ball. Time and tricks you did gave you score. But playing with was just 20 mins of playing around with it while my friends were crashing into trees.

Well, that's it. Post your favorite games plz.

All of my friends pretty much know that I play UT an inordinate amount, so it's hard to get them to play with me and it's not like I can surprise anybody by beating them at it. But those basic movement and aiming skills with mouse/kb translate well into a lot of different games, so I've been known to beat decent players at games like Quake 3, Doom 3, etc after a few tries.

I don't like Soul Calibur because all of my friends like to beat me at it...

Guilty Gear is where it's at!

I can consistently beat my friends at any game in my library, and probably any in theirs if they give me half an hour to learn it and level the playing field. This doesn't mean I'm any good, just that my friends are less good.

I'd say the most enjoyable is probably DOA4 just because it's the only multiplayer game that's still fun in local for me. I used to enjoy kicking their butts in Halo, but local Halo 3 seems very dull when played locally. I can only play that game online to have any fun these days, simply because of the calibre of player i'm used to playing against.

by that you arent seriously saying that the online halo 3 players are of high calibre right? because man, about 1 out of 10 games has a good player in it.

Goldeneye...I remember going to the beach with my family for a week when I was about 11 or 12. I brought my best friend along for the trip, and we stayed in the hotel room playing Goldeneye almost every day while everyone else was out enjoying the sun and surf. I think that's also when my parents realized that their son was a bit of an oddball, a perception which would grow exponentially as time went on.

Also, I enjoyed owning my friends at Waverace 64 and later, CS and Madden.

I'm saying that people who play Halo 3 online are of a higher skill than my friends, and given that I generally only play Halo 3 for a couple of hours a week, definitely better than me (at least when it comes to playing free-for-all matches).

This is tangential though. Back in Halo, I'd only play Halo multiplayer when my friends came over, so they knew the maps as well as I did. Since I can play it online, I'm playing with people who play it a lot more, hours a day in some cases. Letting my friends loose on the game once every couple of weeks to go up against me? Boring.

Maybe online gaming is killing local play. I wonder if that matters.

I know this is Old School, but Mario Kart in battle mode. So much fun.

More recently, Mario Strikers for the Wii.

Nothing like Gauntlet: Dark Legacy for mindless fun. Gotta love stealing pickups. "Pardon me but that was mine!" LOL

Also have fun with Crash Team Racing for the PS1, although my eldest must cheat. How can anyone come in first EVERY TIME?! o_O

Pro evolution soccer is always good fun. Beating a good team with someone rubbish and showboating all the way.

Also recently had fun duelling friends on world of warcraft. No skill involved, but it still feels good.

Super Smash Bros. was the greatest friend-beating game for me.

There was drama. There was excitement. There was the possibility that you could be down to your last life and still take out your friend (who had 5+ lives left). For me, Super smash bros was a game that deserved a specific group of people to get together and play. When there was one person still left standing, they would all gank him at the beginning of the next match.

I also like Capcom vs Snk 2 EO. I would always be Dan Hibiki, wait until my meter got charged all the way, and performed his ultimate attack (Which I called, the "Dan Hibiki Smackdown"). Very satisfying for me. Very degrading for an opponent.

Soul Calibur (especially nr.2) made me infamous at home. Nobody would play with me.

Smash Bros (and Melee) had me hated by people too, but at least then, three people could team up on me.

My personal favorite is a game that my friends and I made up. Basically, all of my friends sniff Freon and put buckets over their heads. As they stumble around, I proceed to smash them in the forebrain with a baseball or cricket bat, depending on their nationality or the nationality I'm pretending to be at the time. Afterwards, I give my friends $5 a piece to buy cigarettes and liquor, and they go back to living in under bridges and eating out of dumpsters.

Wait. This wasn't what you meant, was it?
