Super Smash Bros (64)
Armored Core (PS1)
Tekken (PS1)
Soul Calibur (PS2)
Mortal Kombat (earlier ones)
Twisted Metal (PS1)
Goldeneye (64)
Counter-Strike (PC)
Mario Kart (64 version)
I think out of all of those my most favorite is SSB because I used to play it constantly and no matter where you are you can find people who will play it.
Getting beaten by my friends on Goldeneye was always a fun experience. I may never have been any good (maybe because I never owned a N64!) but that game was good fun for playing with your mates.
I also enjoyed playing Timesplitters 2 on the PS2 with my friends, was a lot of fun with all the different characters you could play as...Gingerbread men were fun I must admit.
No games at all. The number onw in any game depends; we have an ultimate rhythm game player, a fighting game expert and an all-rounder (mainly FPS though) who take turns to be best. I usually slot into second or third.
Guitar Hero, but I can't be too proud of that. I'm the only one of my friends who plays the game consistently. Someone who's great at Halo and Counter Strike can take their prior skills into Call of Duty 4. Someone who's great at Soul Calibur won't have too much trouble acclimating themselves to Virtua Fighter. Guitar Hero is too unique. Unless you were one of the few people to import Guitar Freaks you won't be able to jump right into anything but easy mode. Until they've had the experience I've had I can't call it a fair fight.
My personal favorite is ObsCure as you can beat your friends up while their characters make empty threats and goofy grunts of pain, but none of the blows actually hurt the characters. Very fun. I can't wait for ObsCure 2 so I can beat up the new white kids and listen to their crappy voice actors try to sound like they're getting hurt... just so long as they don't actually take damage.
For some reason, everyones too intimidated to play it with me. Maybe it's because I've unlocked and purchased all the aircraft, including the 3 super planes. Maybe it's because I've beaten every mission derivative on Ace difficulty (the highest difficulty) with an S ranking.
Oh, and like every second poster here I have to add Soul Calibur 3. My older brother's STILL trying to formulate an anti-Siegfried strategy.
Timesplitters 2, the Virus mode with a lot of bots. Put it in a wide open area and things get incredibly fun and chaotic as everyone tries to stay alive and away from the "infected" bots, who would light you on fire when they touched you and then you would go and try to get the others. Trying to stay alive with friends, and then when things inevitably fall apart when someone gets jumped unexpectedly was always fun.
Smash Brothers games, for the obvious reasons. We would always play on big levels and fight it out. Watching impromptu alliances form without a word being said because someone else is winning by a great margin, doing nothing but dodging the fighting and hogging the edges or just throwing items around was always fun.
I'm gonna go old skool here and say Scorched Earth... (anyone else remember that?) god i loved that game and would happily trounce my friends for hours on end. thems were the days....
more recently i have to say Tekken 3, tag, and 5 (Lei Wulong bwwoooy!!!) and like everyone else, Soul Calibur II (yay for xianghua!)
Got to be Mario Kart 64 - me and my housemates still play this regularly. Incredible and light-hearted fun (which usually fills our house with screams of rage and triumph).
Street Fighter 3 third strike and Guilty Gear X2 accent core is where its at, Just because my friends believe they are good, just to get shot down by my Yang and Dizzy.
