I've made about 15 posts so far and in roughly half of them I've mentioned Skies of Arcadia this, Skies of Arcadia that, so I'm gonna go with (can you guess?)...

Time and Etern-

-Skies of Arcadia. No one aspect of it is truly outstanding, but it does everything well and it all comes together to create something more than the sum of it's parts, one of the few games out there that can be considered a truly joyous experience. Also has a great sense of adventure and discovery that I personally feel eclipses games like Skyrim and Fallout 3. There are quite a few Sega games that need to be put on the various download stores a.s.a.p. and this ranks as a priority (for me at least).

I actually want to include one more, though it depends on your definition of "stand-alone", because it got a pseudo sequel of sorts, but not in the same stlye as the primary entry.

Steambot Chronicles. I loved this game on the PS2-gen. I loved it still on the PS3-gen. Hell, I still love it. A Steampunk RPG utilising mechs, with the freedom of San Andreas and a job system rivaled at the time only by The Sims? I would but my life savings into a sequel for that.

Definitely Skies of Arcadia for me too. I had it on both the Dreamcast and Gamecube and there was pretty much nothing about that game I didn't love. To this day I'm still vaguely hoping for a sequel..

It's basically a JRPG in my mind...

Jade Cocoon.

You are a bloke in a village surrounded by evil and you collect monsters and combine them and fight to save some fit anime bird you want to bone, but it's slowly killing her and you. There is a bird man and something about your dad. About halfway through, the game difficulty rockets out of the ground, into your eyeball, out of your skull and blows up commercially funded spacecraft before, in the distant future, rocketing out of the sky on some alien planet and assassinating Alien JKF. Due to the lack of reasonable evidence, people believe that it was a conspiracy by the Space FBI and Space Mafia.

I can't remember if Legend of Dragoon (PS 1) was a stand-alone game or not, but I am putting that down as one of my favorite game on this thread.
