I'm staying with it, the consoles play fine, the network going down is just a minor inconvenience.

I'm not one of those fools who will abandon the system simply because "omgz I cans nots plays da blak opz onlyne!!!!!!!!!!".
And it gives us all a chance to roll back through single-player games/modes we've put on back-burner for a while. Hell, I polished off a couple Platinum trophies since PSN's been down.
Granted I'm not that invested in multiplayer to begin with, so this whole situation doesn't really affect me, but it's brought into focus one glaring flaw in the XMB: The inability to check your own profile card without being connected to PSN (as it's part of your Friends list). I really am not fond of having to count off my raw trophy number via the Trophy Collection section, as opposed to just a quick check. The entire relevance of this is only due to the fact that I'm competing (to some degree; you might not even call it that) with an old co-worker on raw number of Trophies.

In any case, I'm not going anywhere. I own a PS3, 360 (for the exclusives), and Wii (really only for Zelda...it's still packed from my last move), and PC. I play my PS3 the most, and that really won't change, unless they go belly-up and new games stop being put out.

1. Yes i'm still going to be a loyal PS3 fanboy, the only reason i'd ever want an Xbox is to play Limbo.

2. Damn right i want better security! In fairness, having to change all of my passwords every now and then is probably a healthy thing to do but i could've done without having to get a new credit card. That's not to say that i've had any money stolen but i'd prefer to take the precautionary measure.

3. Woo bring on the free stuff!! Also i'd really like to activate my PC copy of Portal 2 now thank you.
The free stuff is only for the PSN plus, they get an extra month, and the days that psn was down.

My only concern is whether this will drive Sony out of the console market. A world in which Microsoft and Nintendo are the only two console makers is not a world I want to live in!

do you think it Will it be that bad?

I'm still a fan of Sony. I like their exclusives. I'm not going to demand higher security because I'm pretty sure they learned that lesson. So far I've had no suspicious credit activity, so I don't need or expect compensation. I've been playing Portal 2 on my 360, so I really haven't even missed the PSN much.

LOL, then I guess this question is not directed to people who can afford both.

I think its unlikely to happen but if it does I'll likely not buy another console. Nintendo spends too much time focusing on casual games for my tastes and I suspect the lack of any competition for hardcore console gaming would lead to a decline in the quality from Microsoft. This is the worst case scenario though. Its not so much that I am a Sony fanboy as I am a fan of the competition we have now. It is nearly impossible for a new system to jump into the market atm so I would likely become a PC gamer entirely.

What is more likely is that the PS4 will be the last on the shelf for the next generation which may or may not hurt Sony.

Are you still going to be a loyal fan?
- Hell yes I am.
Are you going to demand better security?
- Indeed.
Any thoughts of switching to other consoles?
- Nope. Sony & Nintendo fan-girl.
Has your credit card information been stolen?
- Nope.
Are expecting, or demanding a compensation?
- I just want to be able to play games with my boyfriend. xD I don't need to be compensated but I won't say no if they do end up still going ahead with what was said.

Hell yes I'm gonna stay with Sony, this doesn't change anything for me, and the only thing I want from them is better security, that's all.

Why would I switch? That's just silly, although because of this I have been playing on my DS a lot more.

Nope, nothing was stolen from me yet, and hopefully it won't.

I don't expect any compensation from them, but that doesn't mean I'm not gonna take whatever free stuff that they are offering.

I've been with Sony ever since I was 5 years old and got a PSOne for christmas with a N64 soon after. My very first games I remember getting for them was Crash Bandicoot, and Banjo Kazooie.

Never in my life since I've been gaming have I felt in danger of security. I just use common sense not to give out my credit card information to ANY company/group through an online network at all no matter what. If I can buy a retail copy of it then I won't be a lazy ass and order online.

Switching consoles? That's a REALLY big stretch. Just because I grew up with Sony doesn't mean I'm totally dedicated to everything they and feel compelled to partake. I was debating whether to get a PS3/360/Wii back in 2007 when I had my PS2 left. Here are the reasons I sided with PS3
- Free internet browser really sealed this deal
- Able to store/play MP3 files, videos, pictures, AND import songs directly from CD's!!
- Up to 60ft of wireless controller
- Insomniac, SuckerPunch, NaughtyDog, Team Ico, and all my other favorite developers come from Sony and I see no reason to abandon them.
-PS Home is amazing for what it sets out to do. I love it as a simple break-period between games.

I don't exchange credit card information with anything online period. If I want to buy something off PSN then I will go to the nearest SafeWay, Giant, or CVS and buy as many $20/$50 cards as needed.

I'm not expecting any sort of compensation for this because it is the first time that this has happened to my knowledge and the only way I'm affected by this is that I can't play online or PSN for a couple of weeks which is a good thing. Now I get to partake in other more productive activities with my time that normally would've been gaming (made some new friends).

Well the PS3 was a little late to the party and it's competetive with the 360. Actually I think the PS4 release being delayed by a significant amount of time is the worst case scenario, remember according to their own statements they have four years to recover from this and I just don't see enough people spending hundreds of pounds on a 360 when they could spend nothing at all, change their credit card and enjoy the fact they'll be with a company who will develop a healthy paranoia about security after this blows over.

Yeah, but it was said that everyone's getting a one month subscription to PSN Plus. From which there is some free stuff and plenty of discounts.

I was never really a loyal fan of sony to begin with. They make a product that played the latest games, doesn?t charge a monthly fee, and didn?t burst into flames while doing it. I went with them.

I have been demanding better security along with better support overall long before this fiasco. This failure didn?t come at any surprise at all. If the support the rest of the ps3?s features get is any testament to the support given in regards to security (which appears to be the case) it was pretty obvious something like this was coming.

I would?ve gone with the other console to begin with if it wasn?t bursting into flames at the time and they didn?t charge for online. So if MS re-negotiates their live stance, sure I?ll switch.

I don?t know if my CC info has been stolen, that?s the creepy part. They?re saying it might have been.

I?m not expecting much to tell you the truth. I don?t expect them to pay for my credit monitoring because I was signed up to that before I got a ps3. I hear that we?re going to get some free content which will probably consist of a bunch of stuff I already have and a free month of Plus which seems more like a plug for the service than a beg for forgiveness.

Are they going to make it up to us? I doubt it.... Well, some are easy to please (Kevin Butler can go rape their cat and they would still be a fan) but I don?t think I?m going to be able to look back at this and say ?it?s okay.?
