What are your first thoughts when encountering a Final Boss?

Typically it's either 'Oh shit...' or 'OH SHIT!'

Then me frantically trying to figure out how to kill him, finding weak points, and trying not to get murdered.

"Everything before this better have been worth it," "Oh SHIT!!! The game is almost over," or "Ok lets see how bad you really are" followed by the eventual tossing of the controller. Getting better at containing my anger on that last one.

I mess about the first time around, bosses always have a pattern to thier attack, because it is natural for giant monsters or powerful individuals to repeat the same process over and over again so that you may time it correctly and attack approriatly.

When I first encountered the MOTHER3/Earthbound 2 Final Boss.

"Ok attack!"

*For some reason... Lucas couldn't attack*

"...Bullshit! Attack!"

*Lucas wanted to cry*

"Oh fuck you Lucas and your stereotypical JRPG personality!"

I sat there for hours mashing the attack-button getting my ass kicked until I realized I had to hold-out and stop fighting.

and then pray the boss isn't just the penultimate in a number of different stages like Final Fantasy 7 caught me with

I remember psyching myself up for Saddler in RE4, then was mad when I finished the battle without getting hit.

At least RE5 had more of a challenge...

To date, the HRESVELGR is still my favorite boss battle.
