Seaweed, not when I'm on land but if I'm out happily frolicking in the ocean and my foot happens to touch Seaweed I suddenly become Michael Phelps and make it the shore in 00.01 seconds.

Smurfs, pigeons, balloons, and people in mascot costumes. Oh, how I wish I were kidding.

Also, teenage boys.

Bees, Wasps, Hornets...
name one rational person who would want to deal with this thing...
This... this bundle of badass right here is the reason I am staying on the opposite side of the globe...

When i was a small child I put on a bike helmet that had an orgy of hornets in it, and so I got dozens of stings all over my head, face, neck and even in my ears and up my nose...

... and I have never felt safe during spring or summer since then...

I wouldn't call it irrational, but it sure as hell is a fear!
EW EW EW EW EW YARGH!!!!....I hate em ...*cringe*...and wasps really contribute nothing to society, just flying about stinging all willy-nilly...flying yellow jacketed jerks....i see you over there...with your antennas and creepy yellow/black eyes.

Slugs, and i can even chart how the phobia began. Used to be i was fine with slugs then i read the shlocky horror story 'Slugs' by Shaun Hutson. In one scene a guy accidentally eats one of the mutated slugs in his salad, the next morning he wakes up with a headache that lasts all day until finally he dies with blood and parasite worms coming out of his nose. Another character notes that even regular slugs carry parasites and 2-3 people a year die from them.

Fast forward 10 years and i pick a slug up from the floor to take outside, i take a close look at it and its literally CRAWLING WITH TINY WHITE PARASITES. Cue scream and run to the toilet to scrub my hand Lady Macbeth style.

Ever since then i cant stand to be in the same room as one

I am absolutely *terrified* of cockroaches, I can't stand being in the same room as one of those things. Funny because I can hold a tarantula in my bare hands with no anxiety. :D

Also, due to some screwed up relationship stuff I went through lately, I suspect that *everyone* and I mean absolutely *everyone* on the planet is lying to me about everything. Even my new girlfriend, though she's given me no reason to think that she is. Luckily I understand that it's just stupid paranoia and I keep it to myself. :l

Falling. So no rollercoasters for me. :(

Ladders used to be a huge problem. Then I started doing lighting for amateur theatre. Spending a number of weekends standing on the top rung of a ladder with both hands above my head (yes yes, I know, health-and-safety nightmare) pretty much got me over it.

Interestingly, the intensity of my fear is in no way related to the danger of harm present in the situation, just the danger of falling. So standing on the top of a very wobbly ladder is less scary than sitting in a rollercoaster car before the ride starts (which has reduced me to screaming hysterics in the past). On the rollercoaster I know I'm going to experience falling in the near future, whereas the ladder I only might fall.

I guess that's what makes it irrational!

I do not fear heights, nor do I fear flying... What I fear, are pilots! I am afraid of the pilots flying because I keep imaging they have some twisted dream of crashing into the ground or just got dumped/whatev and they are deeply depressed so he will crash the plane. :(

Pilots are jerks...
...that's a more rational fear than you know...

I used to be army aviation ground crew, I've seen some really stupid shit

As for irrational fears... err...
When I was five, I had a fear of skeletons stemming from some fantasy show I saw with animated ones. Then I heard the phrase "skeletons in your closet" in passing. I was terrified of my closet for a few nights.
One night, I woke up convinced that my closet was full of skeletons, so I grabbed the plastic sword from my halloween costume and rushed in to beat em up. I beat the crap out of a bunch of hanging clothes and felt quite stupid. Never really had irrational fears since then.

I have an irrational fear of being locked inside my own body. This happened to me once. I woke up but my body didn't quite yet (your body "paralyses" itself during deep sleep i think). Well my body didn't "unparalyse" itself when I woke up and it was extremely uncomfortable. Couldn't move for a couple of seconds I think, but those were one hell of long seconds. Like microwave seconds.

Bears...
It used to be a very rational fear back when I worked in my fathers forest, but now since I moved away and became an "urban-dweller" I find my fear of bears highly irrational.

But still, bears...

Well i have a fear of falling, not heights if i'm stood or attached to what i perceive as a stable platform or object then i'm fine with them.

Also i had as a child a fear of spiral staircases, this sprouted from falling down the stairs at home a few times and twinned with visiting lots of old castles with the family just the thought of falling down them creeped me out XD i got over that one though.

What are you afraid of that will probably not happen, but it scares you to death anyway? I have a few:

1. I'm always paranoid that, right when I walk into the door, some killer/rapist/crazy guy is going to storm into my place right after me before I have the chance to lock the door.
2. I always check my toilet before I sit down to crap because I'm always afraid that there's a rabid rat or spider or something is going to bite my ass.
3. I'm afraid that I'm going to wake up in a coffin at the bottom of the ocean. This one will probably never happen, but the idea freaks me out.

So escapists, what are your irrational fears?
The sky falling on my head?.. No but seriously I don't know if you would call it an IRRATIONAL fear but I hate operations.. Just the idea of someone cutting into me and removing my flesh and fiddling around inside me... BLEUGH!!! Oh, yeah, also I'm acrophobic.. fear of heights...

Pretty much if I got ban from the internet for no good reasons.
Yes I am any other normal people so you don't the wrong impression.
You see when my parent were switching service providers, I made an idiot moves by telling them to stop the internet (how am I suppose to know you weren't suppose to do that?) which result of me having no internet for a month. Seeing how I have no live tv in my room and lack of good games (I own a Wii) that month was just pure boredom so I guess I had a develop a fear of losing the internet again.

Knifes

Sharp knifes that is I can deal with butter knifes. I just get freaked out when someone raises a sharp knife near me.

Specifically my fear is stupid people with sharp knifes.
