So... what are(in your opinion)very overrated/underrated. In my opinion Call of duty Mw2 gets way too much credit and attention for something that isnt even that good/original for the series.

Alpha Protocol most underrated game I can think of. I actually found the combat fun. The main problem I think for the game was gameplay and story segration, the combat was too sci fi for the the actual story. The shooting is fine once one figures out the game is more of an RPG than it may have seemed at first. Also, things that may seem weak such as the pistol are actually extremely overpowered leveled up. The way the story could end up differently depending on the player's choices was better done than most games. The game had a fair amount of glitches but it wasn't really that bad compared to other games I have played.

I would say Mass Effect 2 is overrated but still a good game), just that the combat is worse than the first one (much prefer weapon's recharging than having to collect ammo and the weakening of biotic powers on the harder difficulties was incredibly horrible game design) , the story can be rather cheesy in a sense that is boils down to making friends with a bunch of badasses and helping them with their family issues. I also experienced bugs a few times in ME2 such as getting caught in tables and not being able to move and having to load an earlier save game. I would still say it is a good game just overrated, the only thing it really had over the first one is it that it didn't have the mako and those lame side planets.
I may post more in this topic later, should really go to bed now.

Overrated - PGR 2. It was the most frustrating racer I ever played in my life, I'm just glad I got it for free.

Underrated - Can't think of any. I'll edit my post if I do.

Overrated and Underrated are stupid words. Your essentially just giving your opinion on others opinions in a very non-committal way. Once you say something is overrated, you don't really have to give a REAL reason why you don't like it/think it's too popular, because you can just point to the mass of people who like the damn thing and go "See? Overrated." It's just a step below from saying that anyone who thinks other than you is wrong and they can't see things for how they really are.

I think FF7 gets both ridiculous praise and criticism, I know people who won't even TRY it JUST because it's FF7, and I also know people who went and cosplayed as Cloud after seeing like 15 minutes of Advent Children and thinking that he was the coolest thing ever. Me personally? I like the game, quite a bit actually, but I by no means think the game is faultless nor that everyone should like it. I wish more people would give it a proper chance though, a blind run is best, because then you don't have people singing holy praises for it or slinging feces at it as your just trying to see what the thing is all about. Of course such a thing is hard to achieve when everyone and their Dog's fleas have heard of the game and have a huge 10 paragraph opinion on the game one way or th'other.

Underrated game for me is Alpha Protocol. Granted the combat was a bit awkward to get used to and it was easy to make a character that was completely broken and helpless at the later levels but it more than made up for it with a varied storyline, innovative gameplay and a plot where decisons made early on had a major effect on how the game played out.

Overrated? Just about any FPS where it insists on using cover based combat as the main gameplay mechanic. I forgave Mass Effect 2 (eventually) because the story made it worth playing but I find the entire concept to be frustratingly dull. Realism is great up to a point but it eventually gets silly (in a game). What's next? You take one shot and you have to spend the next 6 months recuperating and never regain full use of your left arm?

Overrated and Underrated are not stupid words, the people who use them are stupid. Going by your example anyway. You're also putting your own spin on the words giving them more definitions than they have. The big crowd of people is what makes the game overrated, that's sort of the idea. Overrated means it gets more praise than you think it deserves, and the opposite for underrated. Which yes is opinionated, but it does not mean they think its good or bad. Just not what everyone thinks it is.

OT: The most overrated game in the universe for most of my growing up time is Counter-Strike. ...good god it was infuriating having LAN parties :(

Underrated games are hard for me to think of, because I don't confuse "underrated" with "unknown" The Misadventures of Tron Bonne was a great game, but mostly unknown, but to those who know it, they generally liked it..So it's not underrated...

So I'll have to say...Since it's fresh on my mind and I've gotten to mention it twice today. Advent Rising. Great game.

Overrated, I'd say The Sims. Sure, it's addicting, but it turns into such a grind so soon.

Underrated would be DJ Hero, people constantly ignore it just because it's a Guitar Hero spinoff. But it's quite possibly the best music game not made by Harmonix.

Overrated: FF7 - Mediocre JRPG, at best.

Underrated: FF7:DoC - While not the best FPS or TPA/A game, I was completely surprised by how much fun I had playing as 'that one emo looking bloke from FF7'.

Underrated: Timesplitters 2+3 (seriously, if you dislike Halo but love FPSes give these a look in)

Overrated: It might just be all the glitches in my copy, but I haven't thus far been that entertained by Beyond Good and Evil.

Overated: Half-life 2 Episode 1.
Honestly I hate first person shooters. But the gravity gun sucks ass. You can pick items up and shoot them wich is just as slow and boring as it sounds. Or run up to enemies while getting shot grab an enemy and throw him just so you can say you killed something. But when you do get weapons it just turns into another generic grey fps. The audio and graphics suck too. I can't believe this game never gets criticised.

Underated: The Grinch.
I probably sound like a troll calling hl2e1 terrible and some random movie game good. But I'ts a good PS1 title with platforming and stealth elements combined. There is a lot of bonus things to do and most give rewards. I think it's the best licensed game out there and i have played Ducktales and Spiderman 2. No one knows about this game but if i find a review of it people just bash it cause it's made by konami and slowed them down on making there inferior metal gear solid 1.
