HOLY GOD DAMN INVISIBLE WALLS UP IN THIS *****

However, it's incredibly fun, and I think it's another example of why id should be allowed to make every single FPS ever from now on.

There was no narrative context at all. I reeeally hated the story (or lack there of).

I can enjoy mindless games but Tetris had more context than this.

Still pop it in when I'm bored or have beaten my newer games. Damn good game with a great driving/shooting fusion of gameplay as far as I'm concerned. The enemies and world at large was interesting, and you had a lot to do.

Not a masterpiece of gaming to be held as a standard for all other games of its genre, but it was certainly worth every penny I spent on it.

Very nice-looking world design, a cool assortment of weapons and interesting enemy AI. Also, very well-designed characters.

However, quite bad car controls on PC, and the story (while it showed potential) lacked in execution as everything (including the ending) needed to be fleshed out more. Plus, textures for small objects and such looked horrid.

It was a lot of fun, but was clearly in need of more polish.

+ Great Gunplay
+ Great Animations
+ Great Atmosphere
+ Great Dune Buggy physics

- Shit Texture Pop-in
- Shit Story
- Shit Multiplayer
- Worst ending in a video game ever, would rather have had a StarChild than "Push 3 buttons; roll credits"

Good shooting, great animation, decent graphics and visual design, way too much extraneous bullshit, technical issues out the arse, supremely non-engaging story elements.

Stopped playing after a while.
This is basically what happened to me as well, just crossed over the line of mediocrity.

I actually wanted it prior to release, but after hearing the issues plaguing the PC version I decided to hold off. Picked it up during the Steam summer sale and finally got around to it today. Was hoping the graphical issues had been addressed by now, but I was blown away by how utterly terrible the rendering was this long after launch.
Implemented some self fixes and it's thoroughly more impressive now, but it was terribly disheartening to find issues in abundance the moment I enter the game world.

I'd definitely prefer to offer an opinion after finishing the game (which I definitely shall do - it looks like a blast!) but as for what I've seen so far... The whole intro felt terribly contrived. Hagar just happened to be in exactly the right spot at the right time? How did no one notice there was an Ark cryo-station there? It's a developed/lived in area. Why would he save me just to berate my existence and the trouble it will probably cause him?

Very minor issues in the grand scheme of things, but I've always been heavy handedly opposed and critical of such contrived and pressured situations. Why couldn't I have wandered around aimlessly before running into those bandits? Why not have Hagar just happen to be driving by when he noticed me in trouble? The little things may not matter so much, but they definitely add to the overall experience. Here's hoping the world leaves me in awe further down the road.
