#1) FFIX- This game had great art style. The setting was amazing and I prefer the Medieval, fantasy settings. The plot was coherent and epic. The cast was the best: every character had a role to play and wasn't just wedged in; it avoided the negative FF cast stereotypes (everyone's hair obeyed gravity and weapons were reasonably sized); their personalities were dynamic and changed over the coarse of the story. The battle system had it to where your party members weren't just palette swaps, each character had a role and you had to decide which skills you needed while still allowing you to customize the character's skills.

#2) A tie between FFVI and FFVII- I'll...I'll just let the fanboys settle this...

#3) FFX- ^^ read DarkHourPrince

1) FF8.

I liked the junction system, fuck the haters.

2) FF13.

Maybe it's just me...But I love the linear gameplay, and the fast paced combat. Switch between paradigms 20 times a minutes keeps me on edge.

3) FF9.

IX is my favorite for the characters
XIII is number 2 for the graphics
I because it started it all

Seriously I don't get all the nerdgasams over VII, sure it was good fun, and historically a huge game, but not my favorite

Final Fantasy 7
Final Fantasy 9
Final Fantasy Tactics.

If you love any of those titles, you know why I do, don't feel like explaining it :).

the only 3 I actually played (as opposed to spectated) were: 7, tactics, and 8. So, those ones, I guess.

Final Fantasy Adventure (GB), Yes. For the old Game Boy, the game that spawned the Children of Mana series. It was fun, impressive, and had a respectable story.

Final Fantasy Tactics (PSOne), Turn based strategy with respectable graphics and tons of customization. If only there were a portable version I could take anywhere..... oh wait!

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance I-II (GBA, DS) All the fun of the original FFT, but now in a tiny yummy take anywhere package! The first had a good story, while the second was enough to get you through the game. Personally, I prefer the first one, but the second is still good.

For the most part I prefer the non-canon FF games to the canonical. The combat kinda bored me, and I haven't played the recent games where it changed yet, for lack of care.

It's the internet dude, you're never alone. I frankly don't care if I don't get infinitely huge continent to explore, as long as I'm being told a good story, I don't care

1. Final Fantasy IX - It went back to the classic roots of Final Fantasy and made them better, I guess it's because I don't find the "modern" FF style too appealing.

2. Final Fantasy VI Advance - One of the largest Final Fantasy games I have ever played, contained loads of sidequests and optional bosses, also, it's extremely fun.

3. Final Fantasy VIII - Junction system was extremely unique and I found it really fun to use, although the Draw system was rather boring. Also, Squall is my favourite lead character.

VII
Kept me interested.

X
I was good at it.

XIII
I like the story. It has the only cast I've actually grown attached to.
Plus the graphics.
And it's addictive as hell.

I feel I should point out these are the only three Final Fantasy games I've played.
EDIT:
I tell a lie, I also have XII, but I can't get that hang of it.
I also played VIII, but if a game can't keep me interested for ten minutes, It's not worth playing.

FF 12
I liked the combat and there where plenty of side quests all the way through, not just at the end, not as linear as the others, the License system was ok if a little annoying.

FF9
Good combat, good characters and little to no angst, thats a win in my book.

FF6
Fun and a simple story.
