1. The Lord of the Rings (They're counting as one because otherwise they'd take up 3 slots, if you need one though, the Two Towers is my favourite)
2. The Last Samurai
3. The Good, the Bad and the Weird
4. The Return of the Jedi (I appreciate that TESB is a better film, I just liked RotJ more)
5. The Matrix

honourable mention: Inglourious Basterds

I'm not a huge movie fan but there's a few that have left a lasting impression on me.
1.Transformer the Movie (animated)
2.Godzilla vs Destroyah (Godzilla defeating the oxygen destroyer that killed his father in the form of a monster? Epic!)
3.Death Sentence (Cheesy as hell but I just love premise of the movie and it's the ending)

5) The Goonies: If you had a childhood and/or like adventure, this is a movie you must see. I'm not going to lie, everytime I see this movie, I want to go on an adventure like theirs, even now.

4) Band of Outsiders: A great french comedy by an amazing director. Also, the dancing scene was brilliant.

3) Let the Right One In: A great vampire film. You know how people sometimes describe stories as "a tale of for outsiders", I might actually use it to describe this.

2) 8 1/2: If you have any interest in classical cinema or filmmaking, you HAVE to see this. There is no exception.

1) Dr. Stangelove: What I consider to be a perfect (if not, the closest to perfect) movie. I really don't see how one could hate this unless they are extremely simpleminded.
