5. Advanced Wars 2 (DS)
4. Metroid Prime (cube)
3. Zelda: Wind Waker (cube)
2. Resident Evil 4 (cube)
1. Tales of Symphonia (cube)

Despite having played a fair number of PS2 games from my roommate and PC games that I owned, Nintendo was a clear winner of the gaming generation in my eyes. I'm assuming Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3 are not last generation. If they are, they'd place first and and fifth respectively.

In the current generation I'd say:

5. Defense Grid (PC)
4. Dragon Age 2 (PC)
3. Metroid Prime 3 (Wii)
2. Dragon Age: Origins (PC)
1. Rock Band 3(PS3)

My heart is warmed by all the KotOR 2 love here so far.

Note: I sat out most of last gen and the tail end of the generation before it. Fable and KotOR are the games that brought me back to gaming when my roommate introduced me to them my freshman year of college. Still, most of what I've played from last gen is from catching up the last few years.

With apologies to: Beyond Good and Evil, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Metal Gear Solid 3, and Shadow of the Colossus

5. X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse - I don't know what people's opinion was on this game, but I played it twice in a row on my roommate's Xbox. Freaking loved it.

4. Star Wars: Battlefront II - I loved the space combat. I spent more time in that than anything.

3. Fable - This was actually the first game I played after a four year hiatus. The moral choice stuff was new to me and was something I wanted to try out. Too bad the franchise took a nosedive after the first game.

2. Knights of the Old Republic - This was my first encounter with a D20 system in games. I hated it at first, but then it quickly grew on me. Now I love KotOR I and II's gameplay.

1. Knights of the Old Republic II - Features the best character in video game history (and Star Wars history) in Kreia. The story subverts Star Wars lore and is awesome for it. Oh, and it features a viable version of one of my favorite RPG builds: The Jedi Gunslinger.

It's good to see someone who also really likes Rock Band 3. One of the best rhythm games out there.

OT:

5. Mario Kart Double Dash
4. Star Wars Battlefront 2
3. Downhill Domination
2. Guitar Hero 2
1. Tony Hawk's Underground 2

Yeah, some weird choices, but these games were awesomely fun to play with friends. All of em.

In no order:

Bauldurs Gate: Dark Alliance 2 (Me nd my sis co-oped this all the time! Its in my list because of the experience we had, sorry PC Baulders Gate fans...)

Metal Gear Solid 3 (Incredible! Already have the 3D remake on preorder!)

Timesplitters 3 (I miss having hundreds of awesome characters!)

Black (It was something else! Very challenging, and AWESOME graphics!)

And I think I would go with KOTOR 2 for my last, (again, because of the time I have put into it! Fond memories!)

In no particular order:

Rogue Galaxy
Ratchet & Clank 3
Cel Damage: Overdrive
Sly 3
Star Wars Battlefront 2

All of them are amazing and I love playing them to this day.

1. Tales of Symphonia
Yes, it's a cheesy JRPG, but it had the first case of a video game story with a not-too-stupid theme that I ever encountered. The combat system is kickass and the music is incredible. Possibly my favorite game of all time.
2. Phantasy Star Online: Episode 1&2
Diablo with lasers. I don't need to say more.
3. Deus Ex
Holds up even today. The AI is dumb and the game is ugly, but the level design and amount of choice available in the game is great.
4. Metroid Prime
Atmospheric, interesting and one of the few console FPSes with a good control system. Great game.
5. Beyond Good and Evil
I still have yet to encounter a game where the characters had more personality than this, and the light-heartedness of it all just made the game even more lovable. The gameplay is pretty solid overall as well, in spite of it feeling like a less polished version of Zelda.

Runner ups are Wind Waker, Super Mario Sunshine, God of War, Super Smash Brothers: Melee, Resident Evil 4 and Soul Calibur 2.

I wouldn't be able to put them in an accurate top 5 list but here it is anyway:

5: Burnout 3
4: Super Mario Sunshine
3: Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
2: Metroid Prime
1: The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker

I think Billy Hatcher deserves a mention but that's just my nostalgia talking.

In no order:

Splinter Cell series (sue me!)
Prince of Persia
Ninja Gaiden Black
Halo 1+2
Far Cry Instincts Predator (mostly for the awesome map-building community that existed at the time)
Dead or Alive 3
Capcom vs SNK 2

What? That's at least 7? Ah well.

I'm going to stick to console games just to keep things simple. In no particular order:

Shadow of the Colossus
- Hard not to name one of the most unique, original, and outright enjoyable games ever. Even just exploring the game world between colossi battles was great.

Metal Gear Solid 3
- Easily the best MGS title overall (even if it feels a bit less streamlined than the original). The camoflage was a great addition, and despite having things like the traquilizer still, it was much more challenging than MGS2 was, with better level design, better boss fights, and one of the more compelling stories I've seen in any game.

Persona 3
- I can credit this as being one of only two or three RPG's I've really bothered to play extensively and enjoyed in the last 5-10 years. Fun, challenging battles, combined with compelling characters, and a story and character interactions which can rightfully be considered mature. Maybe if I had the chance to play Persona 4 I'd like it more, but Persona 3 was an amazing experience in and of itself.

Okami
-Do I even have to say anything about this one? Clover did amazing work.

Final Fantasy XII
-I'm not totally sure this would be on my list of top 5 games or if there'd be anything else which may just barely supplant it. It's the other big RPG that caught my attention in the last 5 years or so. Great characters and story even though pacing is a bit of an issue. However, it has one of the more interesting and fleshed out worlds I've seen in any JRPG, and the battle system was a refreshing update to the ATB system. Definitely in my top 3 for Final Fantasy games, and the best one since FFIX hands down as far as I'm concerned, despite what some fans feel about it. I would actually revisit it every now and then just to do hunts because playing with the battle and gambit systems were so enjoyable and compelling.

GTA: San Andreas
Final Fantasy X
Ratchet & Clank
God of War 2
Hm... one more... I guess Kingdom Hearts considering how much I played it.

No particular order of them, but Ratchet & Clank was definetly my absolute favorite.

1. Halo: Combat Evolved (actually changed me from a computer gamer to a console gamer, and thank Odin for that)
2. Halo 2
3. Guitar Hero
4. DOOM 3 (but mostly watching my friend play it, I'm a scaredy cat)
5. Brute Wars (I don't remember anything about this game except that it had 4 player co-op, which was awesome)

These are all PS2 games, except where stated

1: TimeSplitters: Future Perfect
2: Star Wars: Battlefront II
3: Jak II: Renegade
4: Bloodrayne 2
5: Sonic Adventure 2 (Gamecube)

Special mentions go to Sonic Mega Collection Plus, the rest of the Jak series, the entire Ratchet & Clank trilogy, the Simpsons: Hit & Run, and Crash Twinsanity (call me nuts, but I really liked it).

This is a list, not allowing more than one game from the same franchise.

1. Jak 3 - Pretty much my favourite game of all time
2. KOTOR 2 - This is slightly under favourite game ever
3. Jade Empire - I've just had so much fun in this universe
4. Kingdom Hearts 1 + 2 - Couldn't decide
5. It's between Devil May Cry, Soul Reaver 2, Ratchet and Clank 3, Warcraft 3 and PoP: Warrior Within.

Honourable mentions for KOTOR, Oblivion, FFXII, Fable, Jedi Academy, Tekken 5, DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Republic Commando, Battlefront 2, Capcom vs SNK 2, Deus Ex and pretty much every other Jak and Daxter or Ratchet and Clank game.
