I loved the fight with Ganon at the end of LOZ: Twilight Princess. It was pretty standard Zelda-y stuff, but it was the only chance I'd had in the game to do some proper sword duelling, and it was epic!
Twilight Princess had Stallord, a boss so entertaining I just goofed around for three times as long as I needed to, avoiding hitting him because it was just so much fun. The final fight was, however, the most epic Zelda fight that comes to mind, ever.
Final Fantasy X...I liked quite a few of the boss fights. Overdrive Sin and Braska's Final Aeon were quite good in particular.
Touhou Subterranian Animalism had Utsuho Reiuji.
Golden Sun (1 and 2) had Saturos, later teamed with Menardi, the Fusion Dragon, the Doom Dragon...
Let's see here... It has entirely to do with how I enjoyed it, mind you, so...
Final Fantasy 5, 6, 7, 9, 10 boss battles - with the exception of the ones in there that EVERYONE hates for being motherfuggin' hard as hell - are pretty damn awesome fights, especially with that music.
I liked the Full Moon Shadow bosses in Persona 3, as well as dealing with Nyx.
Persona 4. Mid/Extra bosses may have the same music as regular fights, but the start-up gives me that feeling of "Oh yeah, it's on, little Shadow!". Also, totally Shadow Teddy and the very LAST fight.
Frankly, I've had ALOT of awesome boss fights. Good times...
Well, apart from Shadow of the Colossus?
I have a few:
* The
Reapernator
(final Mass Effect 2 boss) was pretty epic, in appearance, at least.
* I really do like the feeling of beating a boss purely through skillz (no QTEs plz) so most bosses in Devil May Cry count, although I really need to finish at least one of those games one day
* On the same note, the Ravager in Jade Empire, although he's fairly easy if you have Jade Golem form and have upgraded it a bit. Beating him with just weapon or martial styles on Hard difficulty is... tough, to say the least
* Going waaaaaaaaay back, I remember the first real boss in Descent being pretty epic (for the time anyway)
* Beating Seymour for the first time (as well as the final time) in FFX was pretty satisfying, as was Kimahri's boss battle, for similar reasons: the jerks deserved the beating they got.
* Persona 3's "final" battle against
Nyx (the "real" final boss battle can barely be called a battle at all)
and all of Persona 4's story boss battles (mainly because of the battle music)
* The boss battle in Lungfishopolis in Psychonauts
Basically this but to avoid the banhammer here's some other one:
Shadow Mitsuo, a cool little throwback to old school JRPGs
Ultros(FF6) in general, the fights were alway entertaining.
Also most of the Yoshi's Island bosses were fun and had clever way to down them.Notable mentions being Prince Froggy, the Potted Plant ghost,Raphael the Raven and Navel Piranha
The vergil fights in both DMC1 and 3 and Ares in God of War have been the major boss highlights for me because I normally find that the final boss fight is a let down compared to previous ones and Ares and Vergil didn't disappoint like so many other *cough* Mundus *cough*
I agree with the psycho mantis love being shown here as well but I think some love needs to be shown to secret uber bosses in some RPGs, my personal favourite being Penance in FFX. I love it when a game gives you extra content and incentive to play on and for me some extra challenges are always welcome (plus I loved it when the DMC games gave extra attacks for the bosses on higher difficulty levels.)
I know Shadow of The Colossus is a staple in this thread but I specifically liked Avion, Dirge, and Phalanx.
Also most bosses in Twilight Princess, Vergil from Devil May Cry 3, Crawmerax the Invincible, Liquid Ocelot and The Boss, Peace Walker and ZEKE.
Not to mention the loading Times in Escape From Butcher Bay
