Isometric top-down view. Not gonna happen, I know. *sigh*
Quoted for truth!

God damn bethesda and their gods-damned desire to make everything in the world into 1st person action-rpg'ness...

Fallout was and always should have been a top down experience, and don't tell me that in this day and age there is NO WAY a development company cannot make a top down isometric game look and feel as beautiful and immersive as a 1st person title.. There has to be ways to remain faithful to the original 2 games without messing everything up and still make it appealing to new players as well as us old hacks who are in love with the originals..
Nice first post.

Not let Bethesda touch it for a start. Everything they did messed up fallout so bad. I mean FO3 wasn't bad, I guess it was sorta fun if your into oblivion, but it wasn't Fallout!

However to improve it I would say destroy the terrible rigidness and make the world more real. Improve the health, buddy, guns(not gunplay but realism in the guns), dialouge, make the morality not be as "I'ma kill whole towns and shoot invincible kids in the face hurr hurr hurr!" or "I'm going to be stupidly moral because there is no other choice".

Also more likeable characters, less extremeness, existant A.I., more variety, and a whole lot more blaque humour.

Basically, what you said, but I also want more colors than post apocalyptic brown and gray.
You're looking at the wrong bloody series then.

I want it to be made by another developer. Before anyone calls me a hater, I'll just add that I really like the Elder Scrolls, but Bethesda are just not the right people to make a fallout game.

It's really hard to explain, but Fallout 3 had something missing. It didn't feel, or even look that much like the older games. It just felt like they could've done more. Where were the people in tribal paint? Where were the people with dead rats hanging from their belts? The people who were heavily scarred? Every character in Fallout 3 looks as though they came off a generic conveyor belt. Look at the talking heads of the first two games, they're much more original. In Fallout 3, true to Bethesda form, they all have the same body type, the clothes and Armour were uninspired. Bethesda need better concept artists, get the guys who design the look of CoC: DCotE to do the concept art. The gameplay in Fallout 3 is fine, but the look and feel are missing, and the look and feel was what made Fallout, Fallout.

Edit: I also felt as though Bethesda were just trying to hard sometimes. Fallout 3 felt like an incredibly nerdy kid just threw on a leather jacket and shades.

Pretty self explanatory.

I may be a little late to discovering this, but I just heard Bethesda has a 3 game contract or whatever for the Fallout series. And I know Fallout: New Vegas will be the next one then Fallout 4.

So, what do you want to be in the next Fallout game?
I think Co-op multiplayer with more enemies spawned to compensate when you're together. Would this make it like WoW? I've not played it.

...Made by a zombified Black Isle? Fallout 3 was a good reimagination of Oblivion, but not a successor to Fallout 2.
Thats because Fallout 2 is a very old game , a modern sequel that did the same thing would be shunned for not being that great.
True. It is also because it placed greater emphasis on character development, less of a... simplified morality system, fully turn-based combat, a more flexible implementation of the SPECIAL system, traits (with actual drawbacks) in addition to perks, the ability to turn off the thousandth slow motion head explosion, and more attention to reputations. In Bethesda's defense, it would also have less wilderness exploration, uglier graphics, no options of real-time gameplay, and lower sales figures.

Fallout 3's a good game. I'd have few issues with it being called Fallout: The Elder Shotguns or something (there have been far worse games stamped with the Fallout logo), but it's not close enough to the main RPGs that founded the Fallout universe IMO.

More space aliens and could use more story cross over, I know they could not do much of it with the main area being in DC but still.

Also could use more mystery and the unknown factor like that one hospital with man and his son going nuts over a book was pure win, but there was not a real ending to it, did like the flash back stuff where you got to saw the hospital before the war.

The one really annoying thing in Fallout 3 was not being able to join the Enclave, no matter how much you try to help them through dialogue and action they never side with you and you never get a chance, they were the only damned faction i liked!!!!

I'd like to see more shades of grey in between the black and white if "Blow up Megaton or Save Megaton" and see how that affects the ultimate outcome of the game.

Online gameplay, tho that would mainly be private servers since if it was public some ass could just come along and kill your quest giver or all the public ones would mainly be PvP, meh. But those who have some friends to play with, yaaay.

I personally want the following:

1. Better customization (I know they were trying to keep the 50's feel of it, but most people don't have those hairstyles anymore.)

2. Bigger area. (I love the Capital Wasteland, but I felt it was much smaller than the one's in Elder Scrolls, which limited my immersion. I like huge worlds)

3. More Quests!! (The amount of quests in Fallout 3 were severely lacking in my opinion. They were all great, but there were so few of them.)

4. Just like for Oblivion, More voice actors!!! (I can't tell you how many times I saw people talking to themselves.)
This and online multiplayer.

I want more quests and voice actors. And maybe a game set in Chicago. And have unique weapons with unique art styles. So a special assult rifle doesn't look exactly like a normal one.
That is all

EDIT: Sorry Max, quoted you on accident instead of someone else

The ability to kill children.

Not because I actively want to kill children per se, but I went on a mad shooting spree while in a bad mood in Megaton and Simm's son was just wandering around afterward. It was... bizarrely
depressing.

More dialogue options.

The ability to actually have a love interest. It's not a game-maker for me, but for example there's that woman in Rivet City who wants you to buy her a drink, and several other flirtatious females (presumably flirtatious males too if you play a girl). But it doesn't go anywhere. At all. Just the same conversations over and over.
There are mods for the PC version that lets you kill children and seduce women.
what about those of us who got it for the xbox 360?

We need somewhere new where we can get some good voice acting and mix in all most fantasy landish areas and scary dungeons. Europe. think about it. we got british actors, crypts and sewer systems, tons of forest area (not like oblivion I mean like burnt and so on) and tons of citys and rubble perfect for fallout 4. plus we need more weapons we need to fix the lockpick system so that even if your not the right level you can atleast try like in oblivion it would just be hard. also hand to hand and melee fighting should be mixed into one. also more then just a hat and armor we need gloves, boots, shirts, everything. also say a iron gun can be repaird with tin cans and leather shirts can be repaired with leather belts and so on.
