Marilyn Manson could be good for a horror game, they did the main theme of the first Resident Evil movie, and it fits really well.

Only if the point of the game is to be bored to death.
I once tried to listen to an album from Tyr. By Thor...

Apart from the obvious favourites that have made music for games, such as: Kevin Sherwood, Elena Seigman and Akira Yamaoka; etc. But I think I'd probably like Nine Inch Nails (Trent Reznor), Devin Townsend or someone like Yiruma perhaps?
Your wish has been fulfilled, with NIN at least. I don't know about a whole soundtrack, but he's doing some music for Black Ops 2 according to one of the trailers.

As for my choice...hmm...I guess I'd say Kidneythieves. Now while I did originally discover them because they made music for Dissidia Duodecim, I'd like to see what they could do with other games.
Ai~ Is it under NIN or Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross' name? TR&AR ever since '09 have been doing things together and NIN hasn't really been doing much, apart from remastering albums. I know HTDA (How To Destroy Angels -- a project band consisting of: Trent, Atticus and Mariqueen), as the band, made one of the songs for 'Girl with The Dragon Tattoo'. The only other time I knew about NIN + gaming was when the NIN logo was printed onto the Nail-Gun ammo boxes in Quake.
Actually, be right back, I'll check now.

^ The permalink above is an interview about Black Ops 2 involving Trent Reznor; including him talking about making the score. Two words... "HOLY. FUCK!" This is like a dream! Not to mention the writer of Dark Knight is also in the production of Black Ops 2! Though, despite everyone shamming Treyarch, I have a personal biased opinion that they're better than Infinity Ward on so many levels. And to get a production team like what they've got for B.O.2 is pretty fucking sweet!

Also, going back a little to 'Kidneythieves', they kinda remind me of another band, that's rather poorly produced, called "22 Hertz". Who are another Indust' band but never really got anywhere. Though, thinking about that reminds me of the band 'Orgy' who were completely original Indust' metal. Quite literally, they sound more 80's than NIN did with the 'Pretty Hate Machine' album, followed by Trent Reznor's rather necessity to make a whole album of covers (I believe) in 1990~.

Though, 4/5/6 lines back to 22Hertz and Kidneythieves, the game Doom3 (I think?) featured industrial music and a song named "Quake"(?). Personally, putting Trent Reznor and other bands away, I think I'd like to hear more Prog' Rock/Metal bands or artists, e.g: Frost* or Devin Townsend, create a score for a first-person shooters/ action game, like CoD, and see how that goes. I don't think I've seen it done, or at least not good enough to have caught my eye.

Metal bands doing video game soundtracks would sound absolutely shit for the most part, it would make the game sound like a shitty modern horror film.

Bands/artists that could work:

Devin Townsend - No metal though, just his ambient wall of sound stuff could work for alot of games.

Trent Reznor - Could work great for a Blade Runner style game or a horror title.

Future Sound Of London - Alot of variation here, could do pretty much anything.

Hybrid - Epic electronica with an orchestral backing could work for modern fantasy games.

Subaudition/Tenhi - Both very depressing/downbeat european folk music bands that could fit games like Skyrim. Norse mythology has to be involved somewhere.

Constance Demby/Steve Roach/Vangelis - Extremely Spacey new age music would work great for something such as Mass Effect.

Yoko Kanno - Already famous for her works on the Animes Cowboy Bebop and Darker Than Black as well as others, her music could very well for a futuristic noire thriller.

Sigur Ros - Could work with alot of games really.

Scorn - Formed by ex-Napalm Death member Mick Harris, a dark ambient/industrial project that would work great for a game such as Silent Hill.

Merzbow - Possibly Japans most famous noise artist, his music is basically just fluctuations of white noise with a really disturbing atmosphere, perfect for something like Amnesia: The Dark Descent or Slender style games.

Kitaro/Karunesh - Like Vangelis but with alot of eastern arabic influences drawn from world/folk music. Absolutely perfect for a game such as Journey.

I agree that quite a lot of 'metal' would actually sound absolute shite. But I agree that more of Devin's ambient stuff would work. Though, listening to Devin's "Ziltoid The Omniscient" album while playing Black Op's Nazi Zombies levels was a pretty sweet-mix.

Though, I listened to quite a lot of Slipknot while playing the original Nazi Zombies on WAW.

Opeth would be awesome, if it was the right kind of game. Katatonia would do a really good soundtrack to a gangster style game I think.

Yes to all of those.

I'd like to add Gojira to the mix:
I think what we all want is basically something with a keyboard in it, or at least an 8-bit sound influence (obviously not too much, we're on about TV's and Computer's here, not Nintendo's, we want a sound that actually good). Though, I will say, I don't think lyrics have ever worked well with games. I mean, if it's a cut-screen, sure... There's a lot of evidence to show that can work effectively.

Though, fair play, I love that song you posted, "Someonehairy-ish".

I would have to go along with everyone who has said Nine Inch Nails/ Trent Reznor, love the fact that he's doing the Black Ops II main theme (and a friend is buying the game solely for that reason) and I would love to hear him take a crack at another game soundtrack, since it's been 16 years since he did Quake's.

Sulek has a style of music that I like and that already works with an animator/artist who DID make a flash game with their music.

Just trust me on this. These guys could make music for an awesome action game.

And finally...

BIG O NEEDS A GAME!!!

Iron Maiden!
Up the Irons!
I mean anything like a fantasy adventure with some killing to do would uit them fine, plus I think they could go for some insane instrumentals.

To each their own I suppose. Also wouldn't By Bragi be more appropriate than "By Thor"?

Sacred was the best part of the game, such an awesome song...

Yes please. Tyr have some epic songs. Not quite as awesome as Blind Guardian, but about as close as you can get ;)

Any fans will share the sentiment, but I would have loved it if Om did the soundtrack for Journey.

Not agreed, it worked well for FinalFight-Streetwise, Gta4 T.L.A.D and Splatterhouse (ok, this is actually kind of a shitty modern horror film game but it`s fun and it just fits - Mutant Supremacy ftw).

What makes it hard are vocals (heavy matter of taste especially with this kind of music) but if you go with just instrumental versions metal fits great for fast paced gameplay.
