Yeah I can't think of anyone else.

Only if the point of the game is to be bored to death.Lonewolfm16 said:The faroese metal band Tyr. The game would basically have to involve norse culture but still it could work.
Ai~ Is it under NIN or Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross' name? TR&AR ever since '09 have been doing things together and NIN hasn't really been doing much, apart from remastering albums. I know HTDA (How To Destroy Angels -- a project band consisting of: Trent, Atticus and Mariqueen), as the band, made one of the songs for 'Girl with The Dragon Tattoo'. The only other time I knew about NIN + gaming was when the NIN logo was printed onto the Nail-Gun ammo boxes in Quake.Jak2364 said:Your wish has been fulfilled, with NIN at least. I don't know about a whole soundtrack, but he's doing some music for Black Ops 2 according to one of the trailers.Draxz said:Apart from the obvious favourites that have made music for games, such as: Kevin Sherwood, Elena Seigman and Akira Yamaoka; etc. But I think I'd probably like Nine Inch Nails (Trent Reznor), Devin Townsend or someone like Yiruma perhaps?
As for my choice...hmm...I guess I'd say Kidneythieves. Now while I did originally discover them because they made music for Dissidia Duodecim, I'd like to see what they could do with other games.

Bands/artists that could work:
Devin Townsend - No metal though, just his ambient wall of sound stuff could work for alot of games.
Trent Reznor - Could work great for a Blade Runner style game or a horror title.
Future Sound Of London - Alot of variation here, could do pretty much anything.
Hybrid - Epic electronica with an orchestral backing could work for modern fantasy games.
Subaudition/Tenhi - Both very depressing/downbeat european folk music bands that could fit games like Skyrim. Norse mythology has to be involved somewhere.
Constance Demby/Steve Roach/Vangelis - Extremely Spacey new age music would work great for something such as Mass Effect.
Yoko Kanno - Already famous for her works on the Animes Cowboy Bebop and Darker Than Black as well as others, her music could very well for a futuristic noire thriller.
Sigur Ros - Could work with alot of games really.
Scorn - Formed by ex-Napalm Death member Mick Harris, a dark ambient/industrial project that would work great for a game such as Silent Hill.
Merzbow - Possibly Japans most famous noise artist, his music is basically just fluctuations of white noise with a really disturbing atmosphere, perfect for something like Amnesia: The Dark Descent or Slender style games.
Kitaro/Karunesh - Like Vangelis but with alot of eastern arabic influences drawn from world/folk music. Absolutely perfect for a game such as Journey.

Yes to all of those.saxxon.de said:Tool.
I think what we all want is basically something with a keyboard in it, or at least an 8-bit sound influence (obviously not too much, we're on about TV's and Computer's here, not Nintendo's, we want a sound that actually good). Though, I will say, I don't think lyrics have ever worked well with games. I mean, if it's a cut-screen, sure... There's a lot of evidence to show that can work effectively.someonehairy-ish said:Sean Hollyman said:Muse and Rammstein.Draxz said:Nine Inch Nails, Devin Townsend?Yes to all of those.saxxon.de said:Tool.
I'd like to add Gojira to the mix:
To each their own I suppose. Also wouldn't By Bragi be more appropriate than "By Thor"?Jynthor said:Only if the point of the game is to be bored to death.Lonewolfm16 said:The faroese metal band Tyr. The game would basically have to involve norse culture but still it could work.
I once tried to listen to an album from Tyr. By Thor...
Sacred was the best part of the game, such an awesome song...burningdragoon said:Blind Guardian. Oh wait... well maybe for a really good game for a change.
Yes please. Tyr have some epic songs. Not quite as awesome as Blind Guardian, but about as close as you can getLonewolfm16 said:The faroese metal band Tyr. The game would basically have to involve norse culture but still it could work.
Not agreed, it worked well for FinalFight-Streetwise, Gta4 T.L.A.D and Splatterhouse (ok, this is actually kind of a shitty modern horror film game but it`s fun and it just fits - Mutant Supremacy ftw).xplosive59 said:Metal bands doing video game soundtracks would sound absolutely shit for the most part, it would make the game sound like a shitty modern horror film.
