1. Avenged Sevenfold. used to be a great band, then when they released City of Evil I lost all faith in them.

2. Atreyu, same situation as A7X, their first 3 albums were great then Lead Sails (A Paper Anchor) was just...horrible.

3. Eminem, his older stuff was sheer brilliance, I have no idea what happened.
Number 3, totally agree, the other two...um...wow. :/

Guns 'n Roses for sure. Axl's the only member left, and he doesn't even sound like he used to. It's like a bad cover band up there doing it, and it needs to stop. Axl either needs to reconcile with the other members and thin up, or just let GnR die off entirely, fade into the annals of history with more good than bad in their discography.

I disagree. Death Magnetic was every bit as awesome as any of their past works.
I disagree with your disagreement (disagree-ception?) Death Magnetic would be an okay album from any other band, but Metallica? If Nickelback released that album, I'd applaud them for finally not sucking, but again, this is Metallica.

I don't even mind that they changed their sound, the black album was pretty good and (Re)Load had a few decent songs. Even St. Anger had potential if the production hadn't been so fucked. Death Magnetic just didn't have enough compelling songs.

Obviously bands like the Rolling Stones would apply, just take a look at a recent photo of them. The only goblin that can make good music is Billy Corgan, and even he can't anymore.

Five Finger Death Punch had a sweet debut, Slipknot meets Hatebreed with some DevilDriver/Lamb of God thrown in. They were catchy enough to have mainstream appeal and knew how to crank out a really radio-friendly song to garner attention. The second album, they dialed the radio-friendly way the fuck up, butchering the sound they had going, and killing the groove needed for this type of metal. And then the Bad Company cover got so much airplay they didn't even need to in the first place.

The new one might be better, though. Comes out tommorow, I think.

With all the people saying Linkin Park, at first I really disliked their new style, but I listened to some of the other songs in A thousand Suns and it was all good again, in particular, Blackout.

are you telling me you like SCREMO avenged seven fold better? you sir need to get your brain checked out, city of evil was one of their better albums.

Any way, Eminem is now shit, I think maroon 5s latest song is shit, um lets see, I don't know most of the bands I like before simply quit making songs, or they actually made good songs, the new evanescence song is actually good.
They weren't screamo >.> they were metalcore. There's a difference. Just because music has screaming in it doesn't make it screamo. Screamo would be bands like Senses Fail or Silverstein.

Machinehead were good for 2 albums until they lost Logan Madder and released The Burning Red which was basically Rob Flynn jumping on the Nu Metal bandwagon. Supercharger was worse still, not checked out anymore of their stuff to see whatever bangwagon Flynn has jumped on now.
That's a real shame, as their most recent three albums are all excellent, and not on any particular bandwagon. The Blackening and Unto the Locust in particular.

None of my favourite bands have ever really declined. Rammstein, maybe, but that's only cos Mutter and Reise, Reise were so incredible it would be a miracle if they could actually top them.

Nonono! A7X are metalcore and Silverstein are post-hardcore.

This is screamo:

Post-Hardcore and Screamo pretty much go hand in hand, Silverstein is more screamo than post-hardcore.

obviously that question was rhetorical and obviously I was using an exaggeration to prove my point; there's not point in arguing over whether this music is better than that since its all subjective, I never had the intention to sway you, just wanted to point out your ludicrous taste in music.

This. I will still listen to Ride the Lighting and, Master of Puppets but I stopped caring around the time of Load. Then Death Magnetic...god, Death Magnetic...

Other than that, Cradle of Filth. The first few albums were awesome but after Damnation and a Day they went downhill. Granted, Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder was pretty awesome.

Saosin. The debut album was absolutely magnificent. The sophomore effort was mainstream bullshit.

Also: Children Of Bodom. Follow The Reaper, Hatebreeder, two amazing albums. Then the steady decline began...and...sigh.

The Killers, though I only loved the first album anyway.

Arctic Monkeys. Sigh :(
I actually just posted in another forum how Hatebreeder was one of my top ten favorite albums ever. But honestly, they've sort of redeemed themselves a little for me, Blooddrunk was pretty terrible, Skeletons in the Closet wasn't too great, but Relentless, Reckless Forever was actually ok. Not as good as either of the two you mentioned, but it wasn't terrible.

OT: Sum 41. They sort of had a bell curve in terms of being good. Half an Hour of Power was pretty bad, All Killer No Filler was better, Does This Look Infected was their best, Chuck was still pretty good, Underclass Hero was way too poppy, and Screaming Bloody Murder was just nothing like the old Sum 41

None of the bands I listen to have really declined that much.

And I must say, I never thought so many Muse fans felt so strongly about Resistance. It's not my favorite album (but pretty close), but I think it's just about as good as the rest of their stuff.

EDIT:
The_Waspman said:
So, wait, Muse aren't as good as they used to be? I'll admit that The Resistance was different from their earlier stuff, but considering their first album was the rather bland (IMHO) Showbiz, I don't think its THAT bad.
I actually felt the same way about Showbiz when I first started listening to them, but after I became a diehard fan, I went back and listened to it and loved it.

Every band, ever.

As everyone knows, music of the past is always superior to the music that comes afterwards.

Blackmore's Night.
Before their last album I loved just about every single song they released, save for a few. Now there's a whole album of theirs that I do not like.

Well Alice in Chains switched genres (kinda) after they reinvented themselves (kinda) by adding DuVall to take Layne's... vacated... spot. Whther or not that makes them worse, i dont really know, but I will say that the ones that Jerry doesnt directly take control of and do himself for the most part are a noticable difference compared to when layne was there.

Then again I dont mind Duvall stepping in. He's not layne, but he's not trying to be.

I completely agree, Death Magnetic was a HUGE step in the right direction for them, but one step forward two steps back:
