Usually? Raise a Charmander and make sure it's at least 5 levels above the next gym leader, then go kill them. The only reason I have a full team is so i can use revive and hyper potion to revive my Main. The others will die in the effort, but at least my Charizard remains undefeated.

Trainers: Hit 'em hard rock paper scissors style and hit 'em fast for a one - three hit KO.
Legendary: Spam ultra balls after getting their health to red.

Before facing the Elite Four, I always delete useless HMs (Good: Surf and Fly; Bad: Flash, Waterfall) from the move forgetter person, and give them the most badass TMs I've been saving.

the best strategy for elite four on your first try is to carry in a shit load of revives.probably a noob thing, but they use full restores, why cant we use revives

..Strategy?

Grind (primary strategy, really), spam, get tons of items, win.

I try to have very diverse teams. I try and make sure no two Pokemon in my team are the same type, and I give them some moves that can help cover their weaknesses. I also prefer fast Pokemon. If they aren't fast, then they'll have good defenses.

Most of my teams in PBR are speedy. Not even trick room can stop them

I have used a lot of different strategies, but honestly, just having a well trained and varied team works best. Understand the type and stat weaknesses of each pokemon, and plan accordingly.

Side note: The most annoying strategy I've ever seen employed. Stealth Rock/Spikes + Whirlwind. Skarmory is a dick that deserved the fires of death he got.

i have basically one pokemon that's good against a certain type, level them up so that they're at least at the level of what im facing, then spam type advantage moves... battles don't last long enough for things like tail whip to really be worth my time so i usually just find the most powerful move of each type and put it on a pokemon

i wack them silly with Marowak.

it is just too powerful. with the hardened bone item it hits twice as hard! normal double edge=120, marowak with item=240!

explosion=250 xD ow yeah my marowak hits almost as hard as a selfdestruct.

I never really use any strategy on the gameboy ones, I just spam moves. I'm always +10 levels over the gym leaders and even if my type isn't effective against theirs, they'll die anyway. They should really release like a hard mode, where if your Pokemon faints, they immediately hate you and go down 10 levels, and if all of your Pokemon die and you wipe, it deletes your data and you've gotta start again.
GOD NO THAT WOULD BE TERRIBLE! ...i play till i get lost then quit.....yepp im that guy when it comes to pokemans

I remember the first pokemon for the N64, i had "pokemon red", and played it a lot of times, only thing i hated was the "drill" and "eartquake" spamps that had the computer, it was ugly

but on the other side, it was fun to use "explosion" to kill his "rhyhorn"...

IT doesn't take much strategy to beat the single player game...but step into the metagame arena and see your team of sweepers get taken out by a ninjask.
Cheapest strategy is using Wobuffet.

Online strategy:

Get a low level Rattata, equip Focus Band.

Use Endeavor, let them hit you.

Opponent with 1 hp, use quick attack.

/game.

First lay down stuff like poisn spikes, spikes, stealth rock, etc and have my fastest pokemon use something like roar or whirlwind to piss of the opponent. The play around with protect or detect to draw out the battle even some leech seed and giga drain would b cool 2. Its my personal stratigy. I call it "super contagious poison ivy" or Sûpâ densen tsutaurushi.

lol agreed.

my strategy depends. for example in GSC one of my favs is shuckle with wrap, toxic, sandstorm and swagger. but it depends on the pokemon i'm useing and which version at the end of the day.

Magikarp sweeping an entire team of 'ubers'.
Too bad the Smeargle tactic is so abused and is seen a mile away that taunt is nearly on every pokemon and it kills it. And that opponent was dumb. No Extremespeed on Rayquaza?
