*headdesk* I just love this mentality some people have. Game isn't even out yet and people are already like "I'm gonna buy the game so I can mod the shit out of it!" For the love of crap, am I the last person on this planet who actually likes having vanilla games?
Nope.

Well... at least till I beaten the game up to a 95% or beyond. And even then I am critical on what I put in there =/

- Roam throught forums like this one here.
- Find talented writers and modders.
- Hire them !
I'm sorry but I think bethesda is not going to hire modders. Why? Because they -want- the community to go mod so they don't have to spend money on it ;)

Truthfully I do hope that this doesn't happen, and people stick to their guns. See, I think one of the cool things about mods is the kinds of content they add to the game. I remember Bethesda freaking out about nude patches not too terribly long ago, despite some of the content they put into their games at one time (they used to include child filters). If Bethesda gets their hooks into the mod community, they will start exerting influance, even if it's simply modders all hoping to get their work picked up by the game's creator, which means they will all strive to meet content standards set by Bethesda.

On an unrelated note, I am also hoping Bethesda doesn't spend a lot of time tinkering with mods this way, and instead gets to work on making their next post apocolyptic RPG (Fallout 4, or a similar original property) using the technology they came up with for Skyrim.

As utterly retarded as it might seem to some people, I'm also a big fan of old magic - tech crossover settings like "Shadowrun" and such. I've been wondering what could be done adding an Elder-Scrolls-like magic system including spell creation to say Fallout, along with updating some of the elder scrolls monsters to be more tech based... like Sloads with guns, or cybernetic mudcrabs or whatever. :)

Actually that would be an amusing idea for an add on for a Fallout game, some kind of forgotten dimensional research facility gone wrong after a breach. :)

Of course, like the horse armor?
When bethesda releases mods, it's probably gonna be paid for. Most of the mods on TES Nexus (I say most because I have not been there for a while) are for free and done with the fun in the right place.

I doubt they gonna hire people and then bring out mods for free. 't Is good for the modders who need a coin or two more but I'm not sure if people actually buy them mods. I'll say it once more: 'horse armor'. :p

I mean your not in the wrong of saying how useless horse armor actually is (seriously it's as useless as actually using a horse in the game) but like Apple, they can make a turd sandwich with a Bethesda logo on it and it will sell like hot cakes!
I know, but I ment it like "well you got me there."
In a good way of course :p

Also i have no clue what you mean in your first couple of sentences. What do trailers, news, leaks, have anything to do with play created mods?

I never said that only a REALLY small amount of games had mods or being new, however AGAIN, most mods (with the exception of graphics mods and lost content mods) are complete wastes of time and are horrible AND the fact that one poster for example will only play a game that allows him the ability to mod it is just utterly ridicules. You will miss out on a lot of great games because of it too.
Let's see Inigo... I understand that my english isn't that good, but i guess that there's different explanation to our little misunderstanding here.

;)

- As for prejudice :
Seriously the only good kind of mods are either graphics mods or lost content mods (KOTOR 2 for example), THAT'S IT!
Prejudice (or foredeeming) is making a judgment or assumption about someone or something before having enough knowledge to be able to do so with guaranteed accuracy, or "judging a book by its cover".

- As for trailers, leaks and such :
They are here. For some of us they are more than enough to think about some ideas for mods.

- As for REALLY small amount... :
I don't remember saying that you said it. Judging by your previous statements i'm simply assuming that you both aren't probably that much into modding, tried a few of popular ones and only for a handfull of games, suffered some bad experiences and since that you joined club "No Mods Allowed". Simple as that.

Isn't there already an initiative in Bethesda to get mods into console versions of Skyrim? It worked with UT3, I can't imagine why an eminently moddable game like Skyrim couldn't manage the same thing. Naturally they'll be issues, but that's why you have an "unmoddable" portion of the game (the menus prior to loading the game), where you can safely activate and deactivate the mods. Like in UT3.

Yeah it should work fine as long as they mean what they say in wanting to get it working. I play Oblivion on PC but I don't mod a lot. I like Midas Magic and OOO, and the community patch is good. I also use a darkness enhancing mod (Xepheras?), so darkness is properly dark. I find a lot of mods sacrifice quality so much that it's another jarring aspect to the immersion, and I just don't like that unpolished amateur finish in my games. I think very highly of OOO though, it's really an excellent mod.

I'll be playing a couple of one hundred plus hour vanilla runs happily on PS3, but I do hope we see mod conversion by January 2012. It just isn't infeasibly difficult any longer, the engine is very adaptable, the new one that is. It has been developed with this kind of flexibility in mind, so proprietary hardware is easy to push to it's limits efficiently.

I have no problem with people wanting to mess around with the game a bit after completing pretty much everything you want to do in it, but if the only thing you wanted to do was mod and you will only buy a game that allows modding, then I just lean back on my extremely comfortable leather chair and *sign*.
And let's just leave it like that. Everything's cool. :)
