make the same game over and over with minor changes *except diablo*.
I Perfer DoW 2 over SC 2.
Hell I perfer the origanal DoW over SC 2.
SC 2 is just SC with a few bells and whistles while DoW 2 adds whole new concepts and ways of playing
Have you played SC2?

While the gameplay in its core its still the same they decided to rework the campaigns and make it more interactive. Also some of the untis handle diferently and theres lots of new/diffrent untis that open new tactics/strategys.

So SC2 is not SC1 with better graphics.

And DoW2 doesnt bring any new concepts they all ported from CoH but polished.

Im not saying that I'm not gonna buy it when *WHEN* it comes out. I'm just saying that its the same game with better graphics and a few new units. The game play isnt any thing that hasnt been done before but the story is pretty kick ass. But we all know that its still gonna be the 2 strats as before.

1: rush with your weakest unit
2: spam defences and turtle until you get your strongest unit.

and DoW 2 trys to polish up the CoH gameplay while adding the 40k feel, story, and all around kick ass-ed-ness to the game. Its tactical, gorey, and adds more then one strategy. I personally, think they perfected RTS gameplay with CoH.

BTW, hope I didnt offend you, man, i just get a bit frusterated when im tired.

Nah you didnt offend me. Its just that people keep talking about SC2 to be just SC1 with shiny new graphics when the game is far from coming out. We havent truly seen how the campaign works. Dont know if you notice but i take the single player side of a RTS more importantly then its skirmish/multi-player. And tbh DoW2 is only coming with Space Marine campaign again. :(

Really Relic give us more diferent races for campaign!

And as long as Sc2 keeps the quality of gameplay of the first one its already one of the best selling games of whatever year it will come out.

I really like blizzard games for the most part. Even though I hate WoW I consider it to be one of the best MMOs out there.

I hate how they cancelled SC: Ghost, I don't know what the hell the deal was.

Personally I want SC2 and Warcraft4, though on second thought since WoW sticks to the storyline they may not make WC4 at all :*(

NOW THAT I THINK ABOUT IT! I am totally looking forward to Diablo 3, that will be AMAZING!

What Blizzard does well...
Delaying releases while cockteasing fanboys with previews to the point of insanity?

Also:

Try these tactics against any decently skilled player and you'll get your ass handed to you.

We can always pray to whatever God that blesses video games to make WC4 be totally unrelated to WoW and release it some time soon?

DoW 2 is campaign oriented as well. Theres a shit ton of story arcs and, depending on the choices you make, there are different ways the story can go so its different all the time. Mean while SC 2 is cut into *allegedly* 3 FUCKING GAMES!!! Not to mention that SC 2 has been in production for like 5-6 years with little to no updates for months *its been like a year since the last update and i swear, they actually LOST content. see space tauren* at a time. mean while DoW2 already has a very near release date.

Lets end this right here though. I dont want another DoW vs SC thread. Filefront forums had these things all the time and they never turned out too pretty.

Starcraft is actually only balanced in the hands of human players of equal skill level. The AI however is completely biased toward the Protoss race. I can prove it to you:

Go into Starcraft and set six players as computers, two Terran, two Zerg, and two Protoss. Add to that a human observer player so you can watch. Now start the map. You can go off and do something else while you wait for the game to finish. When the game is done, go back and look at the results. IIRC almost 95% of time, the Protoss will win. There was a link I visited sometime ago that did this same thing 1000 times over to build of a good data set. I tried it too with about 50 games over time. The other 5% of the time, the Zerg won. Never did the Terrans win. It was strange to me because Terran was my favorite race. I could win all the time with Terran.

Its really easy to see the flaws in the AI now and exploit them, but for its time, the AI was super advanced.
I used to play me with me and a friend on a ladder map vs two comps all the time and i never noticed a difference in difficulty based on race.
I did, however, notice a difficulty change based on difference in color.

Comp : White + Terran= unstoppable god-machine capable of crumbling my defenses with a surly look, Red Protoss and IIRC it was purple Zerg.
Dunno if it was a real pattern, However I always thought that multiplayer comp difficulty was relative to the same comps (Color/Race wise) that you faced in the campaign, meaning the later comps made harder enemies.

Just a personal theory, never tested, thought I might add to the discussion.

And to wrap things up. SC2 is indeed coming in 3 seperate games(you just need to buy one for the multi-player) but they are not all coming at the same time as many think. And yes I do know about the new stuff on the campaign for DoW2 my only disapointment with it is that we only get to play as one race. But im still buying DoW2 and SC2 independently if they suck or not.

I think they were some kind of joke to test the engine or just to tease the players. Maybe we can get to play with a couple in the campaign like the Pandaren or the hidden unit Hydralisk in WC3.

From my perspective, Blizzard don't do much that you'd call original, but what they do manage to do is take established ideas and implement them extremely well. They just know how to make a game good.

Any company that doesn't work to a release date, but instead releases a game "when it's done", clearly won't settle for anything less than quality.

Taking Warhammer Fantasy and 40k and crafting them into something good enough that I don't accuse them of ripping it off.
This ^

There is no doubt that Blizzard has Games Workshop to thank for their success/fame.

Warcraft = Warhammer Fantasy Battles
Starcraft = 40k

There's no doubt the races have been stolen, orcs and humans are, well orcs and humans, but the most obvious ones are in Starcraft, where both the Marines and the Zergs are ripped straight from 40k (Space Marines/Tyranids).

But still they manage to make an interesting storyline themselfs, even though their starting pieces were stolen.
im not arguing against the starcraft franchise may being ripped (dont really care) but the orcs and humans coming from warhammer? I would say that orcs were not made by warhammer first. i think (not sure) that they came mostly from Tolkien.
Orcs were made up by J.R.R Tolkien to the best of my knowledge, but it was Warhammer who set the standard for Orcs when it comes to look and color, The orcs described in LOTR were black, but it wasnt until Warhammer Fantasy Battles came along that the standard became Green for Orcs and Goblins (as in Greenskins).

So the orcs in Warcraft is undoubtably taken from Warhammer.
Likewise it's probably much older than Tokien.

Most fantasy races are built around stereotypes of actual races or exaggerations of physical and mental disorders.

There was a book I read a while back that went over different fantasy races and their origins and most were pretty solidly tied with real world references (as one would guess I imagine).

Orcs in particular are a fantasy manifestation of a very closeminded view of a certain group of people that were regularly defeated by the rational heroic white warriors. I won't go deeper than that because I doubt it's the proper direction to take a blizzard conversation.

Likewise don't forget to check when certain races in Warhammer 40k actually came into existence (in the real world) before you start figuring out who came from what :) (not that it matters).

Starcraft 1998
(Who I feel Protoss are like) Tau 1998
Tyranids however 2004

They had the whole info page completed with videos, screenshots and animations complete!
They even had backstory. Then I tried to show my freind that I wasnt lying and POOF! They're gone!

Blizzard sometimes wastes to much time doing useless stuff. I guess the Space Taurens(I remenber seeing them long time ago so you not crazy!) were one of the April Fool's jokes of them or really just a tease either way expect to see some kind of reference to WoW/WC3 in SC2 just like WC3 had the Hydralisk.

Well some one needs to brush up on their history. WH40k was a board game like 20+ years before all of that. It had all the races and more. SC undoubtedly got their races from WH with a minor tweak from tau to protoss. (Ill admit, the guys who created tyranids got a little inspiration from the movie "alien")
