What book are you currently reading?

For the holidays I started reading The Lord of the Rings again (for the twelfth time ^^. Almost finished, and I still love it. After this I think I'll start on Terminal World by Alastair Reynolds.

i don't know if it counts, but i'm reading about the foundations of psychology. Fun stuff.

Finally got around to reading 1984. I read some of it a while back, but the book had a few chapters missing. I've finished two thirds of it so far. I also have pieces of paper sticking out the top of about six other books I started but haven't finished.

Sharpe's Battle, one of a series of books describing the escapades of Richard Sharpe, the best god-damned soldier in King George's army. Plotting and characterization are wonderful, but my favorite part is the atmosphere of the books, which is given a great deal of teeth by the author's extensive historical knowledge. While some facts are ignored or changed to make room for the plot, every book is ended with a historical notes section detailing what has been changed, meaning not only are the books an enjoyable read, they also serve as a decent primer on Napoleonic warfare and the career of Wellington in particular.

I'm between two books: Stephen Kings "All Dark, no Stars," and book V. of S.M. Stirling's Emberverse series, "The Scourge of God."

I've read one and a half of the novella's in King's "All Dark," and have loved it so far, but I'm a King fan.

I have lived in most of the cities--or visited most of the sites--of S.M. Stirlings Emberverse series, so it's been neat on that count. As the book left that region for this book, my interest waned, however, so I'm not sure how I can properly convey why I like that series.

Good choices from a lot of you--read it or have wanted to. Sadly, my GF says I read too much, and am often left wanting instead of having when it comes to reading.

I just started Brent Week's The Black Prism. I read Night Angel and just love the guys style.

Something about an author with the ballz to thank creepers that read the acknowledgements is well... refreshing. He's also got a few unconventional twists to his writing style that are refreshing after a semester of trudging through overly-snobby-lit.

I'm trying to start The Wheel of Time series and am failing miserably. I don't get how I can read through LotR without a problem, but any other long-winded fantasy makes me cry.

Currently it's The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler and I'm loving it. Soon I'll be moving on to some more serious reading like The Prince by Machiavelli, The Communist Manifesto, Plato's Republic, Sun Tzu's Art of War and 1984.

Haven't read a book in years. So glad I've started again.
