What Book Have You Read Do You Think Should Be Turned into a Video Game or Movie, but Hasn't?

I think we all have that moment, some where half way to three quarters of the way through the book where we say to ourselves, "This would be an AMAZING movie! I could totally see it, the big action scene... This part..." And so on from there. So... Which one is it?

For me, its the Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks. He's already sold the movie rights, so its a possibility, but there's no further buzz than that. I would also love to see it as a video game, but I think it would do best as a role play based in the world or a fighter. Such a huge cast of characters, it would be a great fighter.

And at the same time, part of me wishes they don't happen, unless they happen well.

PS, Night Angel Tril fans... Where are you? I need to meet more!

Pretty much all of the books by Ian Irvine set in his 'Three Worlds'. They would make an awesome fantasy epic, if not as films (like LOTR) then at least on TV (like A Game Of Thrones). Hell, I can even think of good actors for half the roles...

Failing that, probably the Artemis Fowl books, though I've heard rumours of studios trying to buy the film rights, and Horowitz's 'The Power of Five' series (if they did a film of that I'd even audition to be honest, to play Matt [the main protagonist], even though I'm too old - I'm almost 21 and the character is 15, unless they were to make him a bit older in a film like some adaptations tend to :p).

Heh, I'm sure we could all cast our favorite books in our heads. I've seen many a Night Angel casting before, but everyone always picks such mainstream actors that they'd all be competing to steal the show, and the story would be lost in the battle.

I think they should stop licensing books to turn into movies and make some original movies, but on topic I would love to see Repairman Jack/Nightworld as a TV show movie combo withe the books in the Nightworld trilogy as Feature length films and the Repairman Jack books as a TV show

Some of Raymond E. Feist's works, or maybe the Night Angel Trilogy.

Four so far, actually. First there was Hogfather, then The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic (filmed together as a two-parter), then Going Postal. Personally, I'm clamouring for Thief Of Time, and here's who I'd want in the main roles:

Lu Tze - Christopher Eccleston
Lady LeJean - Talulah Riley
Jeremy/Lobsang - Matt Smith
Vetinari - Jeremy Irons
Death - Christopher Lee
Albert - David Jason
Susan - Michelle Dockery
Mr White - David Tennant,
or possibly Benedict Cumberbatch.

And I only realised after I typed that up that I've included no fewer than three Doctors in that list without realising it. Which is actually kind of ironic, and apt, given it's a book about time...

A video game based on Gaunt's Ghosts would literally transcend conventional awesomeness.

Three doctors and the Sherlock created by the man that rebooted the Doctors. Benedict Cumberbatch is an honorary doctor in my book... And if they ever let Matt Smith quit, who knows, maybe he'll be a Doctor himself.

I don't know if it will. Weeks was talking strictly digital. I got it the day it came out, and finished it that night. It's really too short to print.

Nope, there are lettered and numbered editions, I've got a numbered edition. Check his site.

My apologies, sir. I was misinformed. But it was really short, and immediately left me wanting more. And Black Prism wasn't quite cutting it.

I liked the black prism, it was a good book, not quite up to the night angel standard, but I'm interested to see where it leads. I can't wait until the next one comes out.
