What brought you to Escapist and what made you stay?

I started reading the Escapist not too long ago (about less than a month) and I finally decided to do the sign up thing using the handy Facebook button (Laziness).
I started reading here when one of my friends came over and showed me some Yahtzee videos. I was instantly hooked on Zero Punctuation. Then I looked around and noticed, "Hey, there's more than cleverly funny videos here" and then I started reading other things like Love FAQs, Extra Punctuation and just general awesomeness. So I stuck around and here I am.

So my question to you, older (no offense) Escapist, what brought you here and what made you stay?

I lurked here for over a year before signing up. I think I either came for Yaghtzee or MovieBob originally, but I can barely remember. I stay for the somewhat mature community (which is odd since I am one of the less mature people here).

Yahtzee, followed by Yahtzee. Also Name game, extra credits... and Moviebob. I like the forums, great community. Most people will pick Yahtzee as well as me, he gets like a couple of million views each week. I'm also liking the podcast as well, seems like it would be a magicial place to work!

I'm on and off - I couldn't remember any of my old sign it stuff but there was that handy Facebook button so huzzah.

I like the videos. I used to be a message board junkie back in High School (the mid nineties) so I like to have one or two places to go where I can occasionally communicate with random people. Also - I made it a bookmark button so visiting has become part of my "check the internet in under 3 minutes sweep" style browsing.

Zero Punctuation brought me in. ZP, Extra Punctuation, and MovieBob kept me here. Also, I kind of miss Doraleous and Associates. Shame about that :(

The threads that continuously ask me why I'm still here. THEY WON'T LET ME LEAVE!

Really, it's a few of the people I met here. And then I started writing film reviews, and now the people who support my <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/2-50-Reviews>User Group won't let me leave. They're all like, "Yo, Marter! Write us more reviews NAO!" So then I do. Every day. If I don't, they whip me until I do. IT'S TORTURE!

Note: The majority of what I said in the preceding post is false/highly exaggerated. Don't take it as fact. But join my user group. My ego needs constant boosting!

I came her originally for Yahtzee. I stay because of other shows on the site. I like moviebob's show and I love reading comments from the group of angry fanboys he's managed to piss off this week. I like the site because it appeals to the general geek culture.

There wasn't any one thing that made me come, but I guess the thing that finalized it was when one of my professors linked to an article on here. I spent a while before that thinking "WTF is escapist at the beginning of ZP? Well, I might get around to looking into it..."
The things that got me to stay? Probably a combination of ZP, Miracle of Sound (Feels like a hit-or-miss thing to me), Jimquisition, and the other occasional articles revolving around gaming and such. I hit the forums every once in a while, but they aren't my main draw.

I first came several years ago when my friend showed me some episodes of Zero Punctuation. I first signed up when they were having a webcomic contest, and I signed up so I could submit my crappy rushed turd of an idea, which I really hope has been deleted in the interim. The only reason I'm still hear is I ended up making a friend who I exchange messages with.

Yeah I saw an interview with Yahtzee on TV when a lecture he was giving was sold out. So Yahtzee again.
Why did I stay?

So what I'm understanding here is that Yahtzee is like that attractive piece of clothing that brings you into a store. You come because of that introductory piece, come in and be like, "Well...there's other stuff here. I'll be damned"

To sum it all up,
Yahtzee is a sexy mannequin.

Came for LRR, stay for LRR. I adored Extra Credits while they were here, but now PATV gets a portion of my internet time for them.

I first found the escapist by accident and stayed for Unskippable, then LRR and then for the forums.

I don't regret a post.

I came for the Yahtzee, but I stayed for the everything.

Seriously, everything. The video series, the articles, the web-comics, the cool staff & admins, the reviews; and yes, to a lesser extent, the forums. I'd still come here every day without them though.

In fact the only thing on this website that I don't consume voraciously is the game trailers. I check them out occasionally, but not regularly.

I found the escapist through march mayhem. I stayed for various reasons, but mainly for unskippable (and now LRR) and the friendly community (as long as you stay out of politics and religion threads)
