Custom made meals tend to be cheaper and more lean.
That and I doubt that you make all of that for yourself or eat it in one sitting.
Fastfood is a rip off and even the restaurants are.
Depends on what you cook. Do you make a steak off normal beef or Kobe beef ;)
And do you use a lot of oil (e.g.) or less.

I like to cook for myself but mostly there are others as well.
(It's much better to be praised by others as well than just yourself ;) )

Fast food is a nice change if I want to eat something unhealthy and disgusting :D
(sometimes I do that...even if that is really rarely)

I suppose that, with a recipe, I could do quite a lot of things. Not with too many difficult cooking methods, but I guess I could do plenty with a stove and a good oven. And time, lots and lots of time. And don't be suprised if I make a huge mess. I'm not that good at dividing my attention.

I can cook allsorts, not to any particular recipe though ... I just make it up as I go along. I guess you would call it expreimenting with food rather than cooking it.

I've spent about 4 years in a concerted effort to cook well. As such, I'm pretty good. I'd seriously consider becoming a chef, but I'm not sure how I'd perform under pressure. It's relatively easy to be good in your own kitchen.

I do love making pasta sauces. Met an elderly gentleman from Bologna awhile back who taught me his grandmother's Bolognese sauce recipe. I swear it's the greatest thing I've ever tasted.

A fair bit. Living on your own without enough cash to eat out every night kinda does that to you. I can cook a decent curry from scratch but I prefer to use kit sauces if available (and if they're any good- last one I tried was a bit rubbish) and stir-fries.

Seafood frightens me so I don't know how to do much with it. I can bake but I don't do much.

Oh, and while I've never made one of LRR's Manly Meatshrooms [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/loadingreadyrun/1471-Meatshroom], inspired by the video I did go out and buy some balsamic vinegar. It really is magical.
Kit sauces are ok, but I prefer getting curry paste and mixing it with natural yogurt in the pan after searing your meat of choice. Patak's does a good line of them. If you feel a bit ambitious, the paste is just spices and vegetable oil. There are tons of recipes around depending on your taste.

What frightens you about seafood? I could probably offer some pointers if you'd like.

And yes, balsamic vinegar makes everything tasty. If it didn't contain silly amounts of sugar I'd have it on everything :D

I know a decent number of dishes for a bachelor in my 20s; I'm most proud of my chile recipe. With 2 pounds of meat and 2 different kinds of peppers, it's quite the mouth and stomachfull.

Well lived at a place were shopping didn't occur to often so I got creative and made some really "fun" things, the cooking ware was well bad had to use a lot of oil just to not get anything to stick to the frying pan. Seriously had bacon almost stuck to that pan...

But really give me something to work whit meat/fish/bird/vegies and some seasoning, (maybey a stove and a pot/pan) and I mostly end up with a decent meal as long I don't forget I'm cooking... (most burnt stuff stink and a hyper active firealarm just outside the kitchen is not a good idea... some times it reacts on fried chicken)....

I only know to cook fries and omlette, that's about it unfortunately.

Though most of the times I'm lazy as hell and settle for sandwiches instead.

If I have the ingredients, I can make alot. BBQ, pizza ( BBQ pizza is delicious) any type of seafood dish. Mexican food, Chinese food. Of course, I have a dad who works for a major food distributor and he has been teaching me the culinary arts since I was very young.

I once boiled a lambs heart in a mixture of 50% pepsi and 50% reggae cooking sauce. It made one of the nicest gravies I've ever eaten.

But yeah I can cook quite a lot, its pretty easy, especially if you enjoy it.

Quite a bit. I'm big on Chinese/Japanese food.

I just learned to cook Indian curry and chicken tikka masala, so I'm pretty happy about that.

A Student Cook really. An active dislike of shitty fast food, combined with not having the money to eat out every day. Add a sprinkling of inventivity, and a hint of desire to have varied meals, and you have a cook.

Nobody will accuse it of being haute cuisine, but I can always start doing that when I actually have the money to do so.

I have a decent repertoire of recipes. I really only use the microwave for heating up the occasional frozen dish, thawing out frozen meat to cook later, re-heating leftovers and making quick bacon.

I have about a dozen different pasta recipes, a few stir-fry and casserole recipes and I do a mean BBQ. I can confidently say that I have mastered the art of cooking bacon on the BBQ which goes great with everything else, particularly my BBQed scrambled egg dish.

Are we talking with or without a recipe?

Well, even without, I'm a pretty decent cook.

I'd like to think that I'm better at baking, though. Actually, no, there's no need to think about that one. I am without a doubt better at baking than at cooking. My triple chocolate chip muffins will clog your arteries with awesome (seriously, they're really sweet and I'm pretty sure they've given a few people diabetes from just looking at them).

Y'know, speaking of microwaves... I've got an amazing recipe for kladdkaka (a type of gooey swedish chocolate cake) that's made in the microwave instead of the oven. See, there are things you can do with a microwave other than just warm up left-overs and heat tv dinners!

I can cook decently, but only really basic things, for example eggs, steamed vegetables, roasts, pan-cooked meat, I've recently begun makiing stir fries, and at this time of year I'll probably begin learning how to make soups as well. It doesn't help that I'm too lazy to get a recipe book or even look at some on the intertubes. The rest of my family has better things to do however, so I do most of the cooking (my parents like to joke that I'm the chef of the family).

CAPTCHA: cabbage stew. That's actually not a bad idea.
