Hmmm I see your point-curiously how many would you kill/would you kill innocents in order to save your life?
For the first part, as many as is necessary I suppose! If someone was threatening my life or right to live they are less than a person to me and thus have no value in continued existence.

As for how many innocents would I kill...Tougher question, at the moment probably 1 or 2, dont put much stock in folk I dont know. And before you ask, no the innocents would not be any of my friends, they are all dirty assholes and bastards like myself. :p
Remind me never to get on your bad side ok XD

"The point of the exercise is to make the other man die for his cause!"
Quote (modified by myself) from George Patton

I think that sums it up nicely! What would I die for? Very little. What would I kill for? Oh, a few things.
Would you die in order to protect your life/the right to live >_<?
It seems counter productive to die to protect my life or my right to live. :p

I would certainly kill for them though!

How many innocents?

.... how innocent we talking?

Capta: Cheese Steak

...

GREAT! Now I'm hungry
Just keeping on going higher until you find your upper limit of innocent you could stomach killing to save your own life!!!

I'd die for the right to have the old men who start wars be the ones who fight in em.
This, sort of.

IMO if you decide you want to start a war then you should be the first into the conflict zone...on the front lines, none of this sitting in an armoured bunker surrounded by a bunch of spec ops double hard bastards, and the last one out.

OT

Nothing really, but then again maybe if i found a good enough reason and could do it badassfuly[footnote]yes i know this is not a real adjective...but it should be![/footnote]enough.

Saying that though i have done some quite dangerous things to get my mates out of danger before, you never think about it at the time. It's only after the event that you look back and think 'woah, that was way dangerous'.

Ahhhh... nothing. I'm far too thanatophobic to willingly die for something or someone.

Most likely, I would attempt a safer solution (e.g. warning someone of an oncoming vehicle as opposed to pushing them out of the way). Though with my nature as an observer, I can very easily see myself doing nothing at all.

Hell, its not my bad side that ya gotta worry about. I just need to remind you to keep clear of me when some crazy SOB tells me I have to kill a couple of innocent folk if I want to keep on living! :p

Edit: In that case the old Maxim "I dont have to outrun Desert Punk, I just have to out run you." applies xD
O_O well I'm sure that will never happen in real life so you're all set and safe no need to kill any hypothetical thread creator's ok ^_^

Spur of the moment heroic sacrifice to save the life of a random stranger for me.
A drowning random stranger? But wouldn't you rather save the dog? The stranger might a rapist or a murderer.
So might the dog though!

OT: Nothing really. I might end up doing something heroic in the spur of the moment, but that's hardly a cause now is it.

Things I'd die for?

Lessee here, my family, friends, squad, and the freedom of my people. That about sums it up.

It's not like I'll die gladly or anything, and I might risk my life for other things, but these are the things I will not hesitate to give my life for. I'll still fight tooth and nail to preserve my own life, but if it comes down to it, all the things I mentioned are more important than my life. They must be given priority.

As Mr. Antolini said in The Catcher in the Rye, "The mark of the immature man is that he wants to die nobly for a cause, while the mark of the mature man is that he wants to live humbly for one."

To gain immortality in the form of undeath.
Preferably not zombielike undeath, but the kind that actually lets me keep my sentience.

Other than that, well, I won't be dying for my country or to save humanity. It can rot for all I care, so long as I can get out.

Loved ones.

Also for things I'd consider a just cause.
Probably not my homeland though.

First I proudly die for my family knowing in the knowledge I saved them and second i would die for a cause that would put a stop to us getting beaten the crap out of by THOSE WHO ARE MEANT TO PROTECT AND SERVE US AND THE LAW!!! LIKE THE POLICE OFFICERS WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR this poor man's death

YOU KNOW WHAT HE DID WRONG EH?, he parked his car on double yellow lines or parked it wrong, I have nothing else to say

Well, you are listening to a song from a Japanese anime based on samurai based culture, so the concept of honor and dying for a cause is hugely over bloated in the song.

If you actually had this kind of mentality nowadays, you'd be labeled as a terrorist. lol

i dont have a cause I would die for. But i also dont have a reason i want to hang on to dear life.
I guess I am one of those passive modern day people.

There are a number of things I like to believe I'd have the courage to give my life for - my faith, my family, my ideals - but I don't know if I'd actually have the courage to do it in practice.

Dying for anything is downright stupid. There's no point in willingly and certainly exchanging your life for something you won't be around to enjoy. Countries, wives, children, friends and gods exist at my pleasure. They can be replaced. There's no substitute for me.

Now, I might get myself killed over something incredibly stupid, no one wants to die because their autoerotic asphyxiation was too enthusiastic or they picked the wrong mushroom, but that's different. Those are acceptable risks taken in pursuit of something that you may enjoy later. Potential gains. There aren't any gains in strapping a bomb to yourself or flying your jet up the alien hole.

I would probably only die for something if I was 100% certain that it would be of as much help to as many people as possible. And even then it would still depend on the method of death.

It's difficult to say right now, as I'm not in an actual life-or-death situation, but I'd like to think that I would willingly give my life for my family, friends, random strangers in trouble, the Union, Britain, harmony and freedom in general, my faith, the prevention of evil acts, or to prevent violating any of my principles.

For example, if I was put in a situation where I had to decide between my own life or someone else's, I really hope I'll choose to save the other person.

Once I was asked my a friend whether I would rather steal a large portion of money for some anonymous party, or be killed. I was surprised how shocking it was for some people that I choose death instead. Apparently self-sacrifice isn't held as a virtue by some.
