Fox News, MTV, E... pretty much covers it.

But every competitive reality show I just hate completely. I actually do like the more "doco" type reality stuff at times, mainly The Osbournes. Me and my girlfriend often watch Ace of Cakes when it's on (seriously, it's quite interesting and entertaining).

*nods fellow Aussie*

BUT... Last night I was quite shocked while my dad had it on, they did another one of those "old people got their wallet stolen and poor them blahblah" stories, at the end they gave them the cash out of their own pocket, I have to say it was actually the only time I have seen a current affair program do any good for anybody. Besides that though, fuck them.

"reality TV" (including competition shows)... Honestly, The Hills on MTV, There 3 writers behind that and it got "reality aproval" by some American film/movie/reality/whackjob society. When one of the girls leave a party crying they just happened to have a heli-camera at standby to film her driving away in sunset light.

And Finnish MTV3 (Not the MTV but totally different channel), Nelonen and SubTV. simpson episodes last 35 minutes in the program because all the commercials. They cut films in their key-plot to show 10 o'clock new and LOADS of commercials in between. In midle of movie we have 30misn of commercials and 5 mins of news.

If the ads were even good they would be fun to watch but they are shit, and you get the same ad 2-3 times a break.

Oprah. All she does is talk about random crap and she pretty much gets appluaded for taking a dump, whats with crappy day shows and the absent branned (only muckin around, dont bit my head of)people who watch it.
What also annoys me is the fact she is one of richest people in the world because of a crappy TV show about nothing, how come I'm not a rich *****?

I would want to remove all news shows(at least in america) as they all need to be reminded what news is.

But I would do a study and switch out some reality show for reality bowling, make it all emotion filled, dramatic ect. I would want to see how many regular viewers of reality tv would notice.
That actually sounds pretty good. As a parody anyway.

Big Brother.

Not because of the concept - it's an interesting idea. I hate it because of the sheer number of unlikeable, emotionally-unstable, vain, self-obsessed, brain-dead fuckwits it plucks from the relative anonmity of everyday life and turns them into celebrities.

There are the odd exceptions of course, the winner of the first series (Craig?) gave all his money to a very-sick (terminal?) friend for her treatment and was rather a nice chap, as far as I could tell.

Brian Tickle did a stint on Brainiacs, which was alright.

The vast majority seemingly get famous for the very things that make them so hideously unlikeable and I suppose I should be thankful they seem to slide back into obscurity as fast as they rise from it. As much as I tried to avoid them, they kept turning up everywhere. Jade Goody, easily the thickest person ever to grave the TV screen since Swampy appeared on Have I Got News For You, was always grinning at me from the magazine racks, news websites, DVD stores - the lot! That said I was the first to jump to her defence when people cheered when she died of cancer - Yeah great, cheer at the fact that now her 2 young sons have no mother. Flawed as she was, she raised cancer awareness by making her battle very public. This wasn't the usual shallow, money and attention grabbing stunt - it made us sit up and realise what a hell it must be for those invovled and, like any good mother, she was making damn sure that the pot of money left to her sons was as big as it could be. She didn't give a toss what people thought about her using it to make money for her sons; why should she. For the first time ever I found myself respecting her. Only a little, mind.

That brings me to the real problem I have with BB in that it showed todays impressionable youths (Chavs and airheads mostly), that all you need to do to get ahead is be a thick fuck on a "reality" TV show for 2 minutes and the money will come rolling in. Fuck being a Doctor when you can be a Professional Fucktard.

Thank fuck BB UK has been canned - Good riddance!

Oooh, tell me about them! Preferrably in a PM, if you don't mind.

OT: Hmm... While this isn't ruining today's society, I'm going to say it as it has ran it's course for too long: The Simpsons.

But only end it after you've finally run a Halloween episode ON Halloween, not in November.
