What character youve seen before best embodies this ideal
"No matter what happens, how unbearable life is or becomes, the pain endured throughout and even if it is all meaningless. Life is still worth living"

Kamina, make way for Fuura Kafuka:

Her super-positive-optimism can make light of even the most desperate, bleak situations.

If you don't who this guy is, then you need to asses what you're on the internet and should start watching the anime starring this guy!

My ultimate hero:

"You know, just sometimes, in between the first cigarette with coffee in the morning to that four hundredth glass of cornershop piss at 3am, you do sometimes look at yourself and think... this is fantastic. I'm in heaven."

This guy;

He's died twice and has been beaten to a pulp many times over but he still keeps on smiling

The joker.

No matter how terrible his shadowy backstory is, no matter how many times batman beats the hell outta him, he just keeps laughing.

This fellow :

What's more interesting, he was a real, living embodiment of badassery :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Ernest_Henley

Let me also present this masterpiece created by the Master himself.
It's called "Invictus" :

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

In your faces you all unreal, bloated 2 dimensional hero - wannabies. ;)

not as true as you would think. there are numerous times in the anime when it is shown she has a darker side for instance her watching a school burn with a creepy grin on her face and her having bandages round one of her wrists for no reason with faint shades of red creeping through them.

I agreed with these two characters. Honestly, only those two would say something like that (well maybe Yoh from Shaman King or Ryu from Street Fighter or slightly Naruto or Jiraiya).

Winner: William Henley, he lived with tb afterall
2nd: Kenshin, making up for those he murdered
3rd: Jack Rakan, fighting even though its meaningless and provong its not(a better Kamina)
4th: Goku (never gives up, never but never really thinks either)

If you disagree well too late and you probably shouldve put the name of the person down.

Oh well. Tohru Honda still has a place in my heart, nonetheless.

Oh well, I'd say that Simon actually is just as deserving of the title though, especially after the end of Gurren Lagann, If you've watched the show you know what Im talking about

We should do this again but with another ideal.

P.S. Is anyone else surprised ponies weren't brought up?

Apart from a few people, everyone only sees a white wolf that happens to be in the area when good things happen. She does her best to solve everyone's problems, whether they be as simple as replacing a washing pole, or saving the world from a multiple headed demon dragon.

She doesn't do it for a reward or recognition, but to makes the lives of other's more bearable, regardless of her own safety. And she loves every second of it.

Goddamn you aren't supposed to win the thread with the first post, that's just ruining it for the rest of us! I guess my runner up would be : Coop of Megas xlr, because no matter what happens he always has a good time fixin' it. Plus he's totally in the saving the world thing because it's fun and cool and nothin' else. Lemme prove it to you:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0D8JDFeahs&feature=related
