Agreed on Yuri and Flynn. And Judith was a dragoon, which is badass. Raven was boss too, and the German villain whose name eludes me was a pimp. Best Tales game, IMO.

I also like:

Sazh, who was the best thing about FFXIII. Fang was a dragoon, which, again, is badass.
Dad and Butch, from Fallout 3, and the idea of the Tunnel Snakes.
Veronica, Boone, Raul, Benny and Caesar from FO: New Vegas. And the Kings were a more than worthy successor to the Tunnel Snakes.
Lydia and Paarthurnax from Skyrim. I love how Lydia sounded so sarcastic saying I am sworn to carry your burdens..." Made her the best Houscarl to lacky my shit.
Alistair, Morrigan, Leliana, Sten, Zevran and especially Oghren from Dragon Age: Origins. All made the game charming and fun to play. Varric was great in DAII as well.
Travis Touchdown, Sylvia, Destroyman, Henry, Bad Girl, Doctor Peace, Jean, Travis' Luchador Teacher, the gay Gym guy, Vlademir, Ryuji, Garcia Hotspir/His gun and Stinky Crow from Suda 51's greatest games. Travis Touchdown in particular is the most badass, well characterized and insane "heroes" in video game history.
Jiminez, Zelenin and Captain Gore from Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, who work well as the three main characters in helping you chose the fate of humanity.
John Marston from Red Dead Redemption.

- GLaDOS (A hilarious robot that insults you while you do weird tests, YES!)
- Wheatley (oh god that voice is so awesome, also "you may have a ~small~ case of severe brain damage")
- Cave Johnson ("The lab boys are telling me to stop doing memos, so I'm going to make more memos")

Mass Effect series:
- Urdnot Wrex ("Wrex." "Shepard." conversations, Q.E.D)
- Legion ("Shepard commander" makes me smile)
- Mordin Solus (fast talking doctor of awesomeness)

Dragon Age 2:
- Varric (<3 that exaggerated storytelling)

Bastion
- Rucks (love that narration)
- Zia
- Zulf

Dead Space 2
- Isaac (not some superhero, just a lonely engineer, trapped fighting against space zombies)
- Ellie (she does get stuck babysitting, but she's not the typical damsel-in-distress, she can hold her own and also knows machinery, she's not there for sex appeal, she even loses an eye, so she comes across as really human instead of the typical "supermodel girlfriend")

Red Dead Redemption
- John Marston (A game character with a family that's actually handled in a realistic and mature manner woah!)

There are a lot more that I'm forgetting, but that makes a nice short list before I drag on too long.

Games this gen have had loads of good characters--protagonists and NPCs alike. I suppose a short list is in order, so...

Nier and Kaine (Nier)
Geralt and Triss (The Witcher 1&2)
Caddoc and E'Lara (Hunted: The Demon's Forge)
The Dragon (Dragon's Dogma)
GLADOS (Portal 1&2)
Faith Connors (Mirror's Edge)
Lightning and Vanille--yes, really (Final Fantasy XIII)
Flemeth (Dragon Age 1)

All of these characters are voiced well. Most of them have intriguing personalities (often because they're voiced well). Some of them have great stories. A few of them have good dialogue.

OT: Well everyone in my mass effect squads but the humans and Mass Effect 2 Jack. Mass Effect 3 Jack was actually pretty cool. Especially Garrus he was awesome. All of the Dragon Age: Origins party except Morrigan. My favorite out of da would have to be either Leliana or Alistair. I liked most of the DA2 cast. They weren't as good as DA:O but they were ok. I would say all of the KotOR party members(especially HK-47) but they don't count. The Bastion cast was very endearing(especially Rucks). John Marston who would go to any lengths to protect his family. Ezio was really bad ass. That's all I can think of right now.

Video game characters I like? My favourite ones come from Blazblue.

I just really enjoy this guy for some reason, he is one of my favourite characters of all time. Of course I also love that

he is Jin and this is constantly referenced and hinted at. I also really enjoyed his connection to Tsubaki

Or Terumi as I usaully call him. He is so incredibly evil that it's almost funny, one of my favorite evil characters of all time. I also felt that his English voice actor fit the role so well.

These are the main two and when I think of favorite characters, these two come to mind. There are others of course but it's these two I usaully remember.

I would also list Jin but since he is Hakumen he is already listed. I like Jin quite a lot, at first I thought he was just a prick to everyone but I have come to really enjoy his character.

I agree with you Blazblue has some awesome characters Hakuman is my second and Hazama/Terumi is just awesome but my favourite is

I dont know why I love her character so much but as soon as I saw her in Blazblue Calamity Trigger I wanted to play as her and I wasnt disappointing shes just so much fun to mess around with and her lines also make me chuckle shame I am rubbish with her.

I will also give a shout out to almost every character in the upcoming Persona 4 arena especially Chie ,galactic punt for victory.

I also have a soft spot for Tira, Siegfried and Astaroth from Soul calibur V.

Oh and Lowell and Syrenne from the Last Story who provided the most entertaining party dialogue I have heard in a long time.

I have loads of others I like but this will do for now.

For starters, Modin Solus. He is just too great.

I'll show some love for Johnny Gat. Easily my favorite character from the Saint's Row series.

Garrus. Garrus is best Turian. That is all.

Max Payne, as portrayed in Max Payne 3. While I liked his character in the original two, I felt Max in the third installment was outstanding. Very flawed and down to earth. (Well, for a guy who can slow down time whenever his feet aren't on solid ground, maybe "down to earth" isn't the best phrase to use...)

If I had to pick an absolute favorite?

The entire cast of Portal 2 (including Chell, even though she's silent). GLaDOS and Wheatley are among the best characters in video gaming. As a separate note, despite the shortness of the game, Portal 2 is probably in my list of the top 5 games I've ever played, largely because of the fact that it redefined what I consider good writing in a video game.

Other great characters include:

The Narrator (Bastion)
